NeuroWise: Neurodiversity-Affirming DBT Skills Group

Our NeuroWise 12-week session was launched on March 25th, with 8 active participants. This group is for adults 18+ who identify as autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent and are looking for tools to manage anxiety, depression, emotional reactivity, sensory needs, and everyday stressors. The group adapts Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills in an accessible, neurodiversity-affirming way.

“The group helped me learn better ways to communicate, handle disagreements, and resolve issues. It helped me learn to keep myself more calm and to deal with things better.”- Shalunda

If you’re interested in joining—our next NeuroWise group starts on Wednesdays beginning June 17

Lorraine led a community event at Delamare Woods Retirement Community on March 9th, focused on emotional wellness. She discussed practical strategies for managing stress and sleep hygiene and led participants through mindfulness and chair yoga exercises.

The Activity Coordnator shared afterwards that the residents enjoyed the presentation, and they are excited about potential future programs.

Your Generosity Fuels Our Mission

Our 2026 Crystal Ball was truly a night to remember—made possible by the limitless support of our sponsors, donors, Board of Directors, and our dedicated committee, led by our incredible Co-Chairs Phil and Sabrina Beaulieu.

We’re equally grateful to our Event Squad of staff and volunteers, our award-winning emcee Kevin Nathan, and our inspiring guest speakers, all of whom helped create an unforgettable evening.

From paddle raising with purpose, to the Tito’s luge, to joining hands and singing “Sweet Caroline,” every moment reflected the spirit of connection and community that defines our mission. Thank you for showing up, for believing in our work, and for giving so generously.

Be sure to check out Board member Dave Stevens’ recap video HERE and join us in thanking him for also serving as an outstanding co-auctioneer!

Thanks to your extraordinary support, we exceeded our fundraising goal, raising nearly $440,000 in gross revenue. We are deeply grateful for your generosity and for choosing to invest in Easterseals’ Veterans and disability programs.

Our committee has thoughtfully created a day that brings people together—welcoming golfers of all skill levels to connect, have fun, and support Easterseals’ Veterans and disability programs. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just out for a good time, you’ll feel right at home.

We’re especially grateful to our Title Sponsor, There4U Homecare LLC, for generously donating a foursome to female veterans from Veterans Rally Point, along with supporting other groups as well. You’ll also have the chance to meet the digital media students from Veterans Rally Point, who will be on-site capturing the day and interviewing golfers—adding an extra layer of energy and storytelling to the event.

There’s still time to join us! Foursomes are going fast for this one-of-a-kind experience. Golfers can enjoy pre-event activities including a clinic led by Jordan Lintz, LPGA Class A Professional, and a relaxing yoga session offered by Committee Member Lisa Lazarus. Plus, each golfer will receive a custom shirt fitting, from Costanzo Clothiers, as their exclusive player gift. We’d love to have you be part of this special day.

VRP Broadcasting Students Honor WWII Veteran, Paul Boyer

Veterans Rally Point Broadcasting students, led by “Mary on the Mic,” recently produced a powerful podcast tribute honoring the life and legacy of Paul E. Boyer (1923–2026), a World War II Veteran who exemplified “The Greatest Generation.”

The interview captures heartfelt reflections, stories, and one final visit shared among Paul’s closest friends, preserving the voice and spirit of a man whose life was defined by service, friendship, and resilience. Paul served as a Flight Chief in the 417 Bomb Group during WWII, spending two years in the Pacific Theater.

We are proud of our Broadcasting students for helping preserve and share the stories of our Veterans through meaningful storytelling and media production.

Seeds that Grew Into Something More

At Veterans Rally Point, growth is something we talk about often—personally, professionally, and as a community. This spring, that idea took on new meaning through a growing partnerships with Baltic Nursery.

Through their support, our participants and members have rolled up their sleeves and gotten their hands in the soil—planting flowers, tending raised garden beds, and bringing life to our outdoor space. For some, it’s a chance to reconnect with a familiar skill. For others, it’s something entirely new. For everyone, it’s become a shared experience.

Accessible raised beds ensure that everyone can participate. Whether planting, watering, or simply spending time outdoors, members are engaging in ways that support both physical and emotional well-being. What began as a few trays of flowers and vegetables is already transforming the space—and more importantly, the people within it. Confidence grows. Conversations start. Community strengthens.

That’s the thing about planting seeds. You never fully know what will come from them.

If you are interested in participating in our Therapeutic Gardening Program, email tcranfill@escrec.org for more info on how you can get involved.
