Conventional allergy medications, such as antihistamines and inhaled/topical steroids, are designed to temporarily mask allergy symptoms, and require life-long use. The cost of these medications is substantial and may have long-term side-effects.

In Contrast, the process of SLIT treats the underlying cause of allergy and/or asthma symptoms. SLIT desensitizes or “re-educates” the body’s immune system so that it does not overreact to allergens from natural exposure, thereby reducing/elimination allergy symptoms, and the long-term need for allergy medication.

Which types of allergies can be treated with Immunotherapy?

The most common allergies that are treated with SLIT include Allergic Rhinitis (Hay fever), Water/Itchy Eyes, Asthma, Chronic Sinus Infections, and Chronic Cough.
