Hi Actors & Actresses and the Parents who love them!

There is a lot of information in this newsletter. Yes, it IS like a book. It's a lot to take in and a lot for me to write, but instead of bombarding you weekly with newsletters, I put out one once every few months. THIS one has information about May workshops that can help you get ahead of the Summer Rush, Registration for JUNE classes, and Bookings!
REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER CLASSES BEGINS THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 20th at 1:30pm (After Church and lunch!) July classes and Seminars will be up later next month. Remember, to qualify for a seminar, a student must be in a series class or 3 specialty classes to be able to qualify. You can view an online calendar of May and June sessions here: CATHRYN SULLIVAN'S MAY & JUNE CALENDAR! SUMMER REGISTRATION ON SUNDAY AT 1:30PM!

SUMMER-A TIME TO GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL!
Summer is A Time for Fun, Friends and Relaxation...YES! There IS a
time for that, but don't forget about the most important thing about SUMMER!
1) SUMMER is a time where you can get an edge on this business!
2) SUMMER Is the TIME where you can spend everyday at the studio to help GET you to the NEXT LEVEL!
3) SUMMER is the time you can Truly be the actor that you thought you really could be! You can actually See the light to getting your dreams!
4) SUMMER is a time where students who work hard on their craft at the Studio go from being "Pretty good" to becoming "Excellent":
           A) Where "Students who struggle" begin to "Improve Immensely".
    B) Where Students begin to "GAIN CONFIDENCE & Grow In Leaps and          Bounds".
    C) Where Students Learn NOT just how to get an agent, but how to be taken seriously enough to "get auditions that matter"...Then, to not just " get auditions", but to "get callbacks".. and then, not how to just "get callbacks", but learn how "To BOOK!"
   D) Since we are called "The FARM" where L.A. Casting directors, Agents and Heads of Casting go to see who the next new hot stars will be, THIS is the place where you need to make your mark!

It's exciting for me as a Coach to see this huge change take place in my students during summer session.  I'm excited to see which students will make this transformation this summer!   DABBLERS don't work in this business..Ok...maybe they do occasionally, but no one really takes them seriously!...And If they are lucky enough to FINALLY book something off of their look, personality and their limited talent-- Once they are on set, my students outshine them so much, that the student with limited talent's work ends up on the editing floor which is embarrassing and can hurt the rest of their career.  #TrueStory #ItHappens (See "Real Talk" below!)

LET'S GET REAL AND HONEST!!!
PEOPLE WHO TRY TO MAKE IT ON THEIR LOOK & PERSONALITY ARE NOT GOING TO GET WHAT THEY WANT!

It's important to know that REAL ACTORS know the hard work, tenacity and commitment it takes to possibly get a chance at working in this business, so someone who tries to make it on their look and personality with just a dabble of classes here and there are NOT CONSIDERED AN ACTOR IN THIS BUSINESS.

I recently watched a Project where FOUR of my master/premiere students were booked.  Three of MY students were leads. One was cast as a featured extra. The three that were cast as leads did an excellent job, showing depth, had wonderful transitions and were so believable. They moved their audience.

There was a  boy who also booked a lead on that project, but had only been in class through film 4 and decided it was too hard, left to try and make it on his talent alone. He DID finally book this project along with my students who are actively working on their skill, but guess what!? Even though he FINALLY booked something that had some meat to it, he was edited out all except for approximately 2 1/2 seconds of screen time!

MY students, on the other hand--had lots of screen time. They had depth. They MOVED you. They were so believable, it made you want to cry. They were all FABULOUS in the project!  Even the girl who booked the featured extra role had as much screen time as the lead boy who didn't think classes were necessary. Yes, He ended up booking something..... and then, he was edited out because he didn't know how to shine. He wasn't believable & His personality and look weren't enough to make a professional actor who can keep up with my master & premiere students on set!  How embarrassing to be a lead actor who only has under 3 seconds of screen time! #DoNotBeThisActor

GET IN THE GAME LIKE BRYCE CASS DID !
I WANT MORE BRYCE CASS's IN MY PROGRAM!!
I know many of you know how I love Bryce but there is a story about his tenacity and commitment to this business that I LOVE AND WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU!!!
BRYCE is Someone who worked on his craft for 10 years at my studio (He took from me at AGE 7 till AGE 18. First, he took at the Coppell studio where I worked for nine years, and then- followed me to my studio in Lewisville...where we've been for 6 1/2 years. He made his momma drive from Rockwall every day!). Bryce  worked for a while on huge projects like "Battle L.A." & 22 episodes of "Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader" etc., but then- his career took a turn while he was in an " in-between look"....but He still BELIEVED!! He worked on his craft Every single DAY.....never giving up...working at the studio as an aide and giving to other actors. He didn't book anything but a commercial or two for FOUR years after having a lot of success.

Bryce took every master intensive I offered.  He stretched himself as an actor trying things he didn't feel confident doing but wanted to try (accents, multiple personalities, speaking another language, etc).  He felt like the time in class was HIS time to ask questions, learn what he can and then put his training into action for any audition.  Then, My work with him was done. It was time for me to let him out of the
"coaches nest" and
soar ..
...And THAT he DID! He SOARED!! As soon as he got to L.A., on his SECOND audition......He BOOKED A HUGE PROJECT! He wasn't even in L.A. for THREE weeks before he booked a SERIES REGULAR role on an NBC pilot that is one the most-talked-about-pilots of this pilot season-- "CRUEL INTENTIONS" with Sarah Michelle Geller!!!

I'm ecstatic to be sharing this story with you because Bryce believed in himself enough to have patience and to continue his belief in his work/training.  I knew it was a matter of time for him but the fact that he persevered when most actors bail, is admirable.  I want these stories for all my tenacious actors but as an actor, YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND IN YOUR WORK. BE CONSISTENT IN YOUR TRAINING AND STRETCH YOURSELF TO BE MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE.

I BELIEVE IN MY PROGRAM!
Like in the "Let's Get Real" article above, As a COACH, I believe in my program. It works! BRYCE CASS is actually the THIRD student who has gone to L.A. & booked a big part on a T.V. Show within three weeks. The first one was Hayley Orrantia, who is filming her third season of  "THE GOLDBERGS" & The second one was Belle Shouse, who worked as a series regular the first season of "SECRETS AND LIES" where she had a pivotal role!

Also, Have you checked out my Hall of Fame lately? It is crazy that a studio in Texas has more stars and working actors that come out of it than most studios from L.A. and New York.  Many powerful people in the industry in L.A. say there is no other school like mine. That is why we get the quality of industry guests that we do here! AGAIN, Check out my Hall of Fame! Most Everyone on my HALL OF FAME studied with me from 3 1/2 years to 10 years. (Selena Gomez- 3 1/2  years, Demi -6 years,  Thomas Mann- Almost 5 years , Bryce Cass-10 years)   Check it out here!  Cathryn Sullivan's Hall of Fame!

REGISTRATION for the upcoming MAY workshops
AND SUMMER SESSIONS for JUNE are listed down below.
Registation will be SUNDAY, MARCH 20th at 1:30pm.
Staff will be at the studio for questions!
#SpendYourSummerAtCathrynSullivansActingForfilmGettingSeriousAboutActing
(Bryce Cass pictures below)

I have always said that if I could have an actor everyday, I could make a star or at least- a working actor -out of them---if they work hard and do their homework! PLUS Come on---this is ACTING! It's so much more fun than Math or Science homework!..AND THIS studio is seen as the FARM and where seeds are planted & bloom into deep and wonderful actors. Agents, Casting Directors and HEADS of Casting in L.A. want to know who my next new hot star is.

AND GUESS WHAT?! Lots of our Favorite AIDES, MASTER TEACHERS, and even FRONT DESK FAVORITES will be back this summer!
CODY LINLEY will be finished shooting "SHARKNADO 4" by then, and will be teaching for a solid week mid-June. STEPHEN DINH will be back to teach "Serious Voice-over for Master Students" the last week of June. TAYLOR TIPPINS, Front desk favorite who's been in L.A. will be back for part of the summer coming back to front desk. JACOB AUDIRSCH will be back from college and will be aiding. He misses working at the studio & will be there all summer! CARLY STUDER is coming back from L.A. to teach AC (Acting for Camera classes designed for 6-9 year olds) and Pre-AC classes (4-5 years olds-The only time we begin them in the program at this age is in the Summer when we have time to take care of them)! LISANDRA ORTEGA,  Aide Manager will be here this summer. GAVIN CASELGNO will be back! TERRY CASS will continue to work as Front Desk Manager. AMY HAYNES  is still Registration Manager! PLUS We have a few new, very hard-working aides that will be there this summer! I'm also trying to get CALEB PIERCE & DEVIN WAY to come back some this summer, & I think I will!
We have always had an awesome staff, & we will continue to!
