MBA Student Receives Highest Honor              
Distinguished Graduate Student Award recipient
 
Melody A. Cruz, from Long Beach, California, is concurrently enrolled in the Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy and the Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration Online MBA program. She was recognized with the Distinguished Graduate Student Award by the Student Government Association at the winter commencement ceremony. 

A notable achievement of hers was the creation of a chapter of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacists at the Texas A&M College of Pharmacy.  As a founding member, she served as Vice President of Finance, where she was able to directly apply the concepts learned in the MBA program and see results in real time. She engaged members in activities promoting sustainability, business analytics and the importance of value creation. 

To be nominated for the Distinguished Graduate Student Award, the student must be graduating, have grade point average of at least 3.5 and have the endorsement of the college dean.


Business Lecturer Honored as Woman of Distinction   
One of twelve Latina leaders selected for honor       
 
The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) recently honored 12 Latina leaders at the Sixth Annual Women of Distinction Award luncheon in Austin. Dr. Crissy Hinojosa, Texas A&M University-Kingsville alumna and director of business intelligence at Bay Ltd. in Corpus Christi, was among the honorees.  
 
Hinojosa also is a lecturer for the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Hinojosa is a native of Falfurrias and earned her bachelor's degree in computer science and master's in business administration from Texas A&M-Kingsville. Read more about this article.  


Meet the CPA's Annual Luncheon                 
Accounting student awarded scholarship 
 
Silvia Medrano, a senior accounting major from Kingsville, received a $750 scholarship from the Corpus Christi Texas Society of CPA's (CCTSCPA). The award was presented a the Meet the CPA's luncheon held on December 8 at Katz 21 Steak and Spirits. CCTSCPA board members visited with faculty and students' local colleges to share ideas for building stronger connections for the future of the profession.  


Student Government Association Recognizes Mariah Noyola 
Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award recipient         
 
The Student Government Association recognized Mariah Noyola, a management major from Harlingen, with the Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award. To be nominated for this award, a student must be a graduating senior with no less than 60 credit hours earned at Texas A&M-Kingsville. The student must have at least a 3.4 grade point average and must be involved in extracurricular activities. The recipient also must have the endorsement of the dean of the college from which he or she receives a degree. Only one bachelor's degree student from each college receives the award.

Texas A&M-Kingsville Holds Winter Commencement Dec. 15 
More than 800 graduates receive degrees        
 
More than 800 graduates crossed the stage to receive their degrees during two commencement ceremonies held at the Steinke Physical Education Center at Texas A&M University-Kingsville Friday, Dec. 15.
