Hospital Safety Grades

The Fall 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are now available. As The Leapfrog Group’s Illinois Regional Leader, MBGH supports Leapfrog's efforts to improve patient safety. Check out your hospital ratings!

In addition to grades for about 3,000 hospitals, The Leapfrog Group ranks states based on percentage of "A" hospitals. Illinois moved up to 17th nationally after being ranked 20th in the previous grading period.

Three hospitals in Illinois are among 11 hospitals in the U.S. to consistently earn straight A’s since grading began in 2012! Congratulations to:

  • Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital
  • Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital
  • University of Chicago Medical Center

Legislative Updates

MBGH staff members, Mark Pfleger and Paula Sheehan, joined meetings with staff from Sen. Kaine (VA), Sen. Baldwin (WI), and Sen. Cornyn (TX) to advance discussions on PBM and 340B reform, price transparency, and the Patients Deserve Price Tags Act.

Findings from this year's MBGH employer health and benefits trends survey:

  • 43% of employers have engaged in federal or state health care legislation efforts.
  • The prevailing perception hindering employer engagement is that health care legislation falls outside their core business and is already being handled by other parties.

MBGH continues to be proud of promoting legislative efforts to improve health care and encourage all to actively engage.
