Should Your Company Be Listed on BuildIowa.org?

MBI's Build Iowa workforce initiative is well underway and gaining momentum. The initiative is all about helping MBI members connect with their local talent pool for recruitment efforts that will meet the needs of their company.

To make the BuildIowa.org website more useful for interested job seekers, we have added a section that lets job seekers know who they can contact if they want to pursue a particular career. This means, as an MBI member, your company can be listed as a contact for any of the occupations listed in the Career Center of the BuildIowa.org website.

We have heard back from many member firms that want to be listed on the website and the new section is now up and running. CLICK HERE to view the new Training section of the Career Center. Each career listed in the Career Center contains a different list of companies and schools that interested job seekers can contact to enter the construction industry.

If you do not see your company listed and would like it to be added to the various careers listed, please complete this form.

Important Industry Information - MBI Wage Survey Distributed to Membership
REMINDER - Nomination Deadline for MB EYE on the Future is May 26th
MBI is a Certified CM-Lean Testing Center
Since the mid-1980's, every two years MBI has conducted a confidential wage survey for overhead personnel. Through the services of the HR consulting group Newport Group (formerly Verisight), the survey gathers wage data from general and specialty contractors, as well as construction material suppliers.

All information gathered is strictly confidential and only seen by Newport Group. To enhance confidentiality, the survey has a regional format as opposed to data collection subject to a particular city. The more members who participate, the more meaningful the data collected.
The report will be distributed to those that participate at no charge. Non-participants will not receive wage survey results.
It is important to note that the survey form has been emailed to our prime contact for your firm or your designated recipient on May 10, 2017 by Newport Group.

Please take the time to participate and help make this a meaningful and valuable report to MBI Members. (This data can be the most accurate compensation update in Iowa, if members choose to participate.)

If you have not received a copy of the survey, and you would like to participate, please email Laurie Delmott -   ldelmott@mbionline.com .

MBI has taken the steps needed to become an approved CM-Lean exam testing center. The AGC Certificate of Management-Lean Construction (CM-Lean) is an assessment-based certificate credential that denotes knowledge and understanding of concepts related to lean adoption, practice and process transformation outlined in AGC's Lean Construction Education Program (LCEP).  Successful candidates will carry the CM-Lean designation.

CM-Lean candidates must successfully complete the seven Lean Construction Education Program courses, provide AGC with a record of completion and have an approved application in advance of exam administration. The application should not be submitted until you have completed all seven units of LCEP.

MBI has the following testing dates on the calendar:

If you live in Iowa, chances are you have seen one of these banners on a construction site as you pass by.  But, do you know why it is there?  No, it's not a new construction company taking Iowa by storm.  It actually is there to announce to the public that the job site is taking extra measures towards the safety of all workers on site. >>>Read More
Safety services are and continue to be a central aspect of the mission of the Master Builders of Iowa.  For decades, MBI has been providing job site audits and safety-related training to MBI members.
Construction Safety Specialists, Inc. - also known for its more eloquent moniker - CSSI - is the entity that is responsible for providing not only safety services, such as job site audits, but also is charged with assessing your company's overall risk management strategies. CSSI professionals believe that a safe worksite is only part of an overall safety equation.  Moreover, CSSI is positioned to work with companies and clients to make institutional changes that impact company behavior.  This is where CSSI can be most effective and beneficial to construction c ompanies. >>>Read More
Why would an employee choose an employer that doesn't consider the habits of its prospective employees? Candidates refuse to work for employers with anything less than a stellar image and reputation.  Part of that image is the way the company presents its own adoption of technology. Instead of putting your business' time and budget toward headhunters to source candidates to fill open positions, consider how you can present a leading-edge look and feel by implementing a more mobile-focused recruiting strategy.
Job seekers today demand an easy process to apply for jobs and socially follow and collaborate with employers.  Let's discuss how combining your recruitment approach with technology can make all the difference. >>>Read More
