Happy Construction Week!
Construction Week 2018 is here! The purpose of Construction Week is to promote the men and women in the commercial construction industry, and showcase the rewarding careers that are available. This week is a great opportunity to visit your local schools in an effort to educate students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators about the commercial construction industry and the opportunities for great careers within it. It is also a great time to show appreciation towards your team and others in the construction industry.

MBI will be posting on our Facebook , Twitter , and LinkedIn accounts often throughout the week, including by highlighting our members’ Exceptional Field Staff . We encourage you to share our posts to your followers, and to post about your own Construction Week celebrations using the hashtag #ConstructionWeek18 ! There is no better way to increase the awareness of the opportunities available in our industry than through social media. Be sure to email your Construction Week pictures to aschmidt@mbionline.com !

Remember, we have a library of online resources available for download to help you with your Construction Week celebrations. Thank you for helping make the 3 rd Annual Construction Week a success! For any questions about Construction Week, please contact Aly Schmidt at aschmidt@mbionline.com
WORKSAFE Certified Program
WORKSAFE Certified is a newly developed safety training and awareness program that will enhance the knowledge base of job site supervisory personnel.  To become WORKSAFE Certified, individuals will need to satisfactorily complete a 2-day training curriculum that is primarily focused on hazard awareness and mitigation. Some of the topics covered include: pre-planning; excavation and trenching; demo and abatement; roofing and elevated work; electrical hazards as well as corrective actions and OSHA inspection protocols.

Though this program is not meant to replace a 30-Hour OSHA class, it does provide a higher degree of focus on construction-specific safety education and training. The WORKSAFE Certification is also an important component of the new WORKSAFE Tiered Program. To qualify for an upgraded WORKSAFE Project level, one requirement may be to have representatives holding the WORKSAFE Certified credential.

WORKSAFE Certified course offerings this fall include:

November 14-15, 2018

Cedar Rapids
December 4-5, 2018

Master Builder Designation: Safety – 16 Credits
