Dear Miami Beach JCC Community,

We all continue to be deeply concerned and saddened by the horrible situation in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those directly affected by the ongoing conflict, and we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Israel during this crisis.

In these pivotal times, we are acutely aware of our Center's indispensable role in fortifying a unified and thriving Jewish community. We are devoted to elevating our impact by offering top-tier classes, enriching programs, and meaningful experiences that deepen our connection to and instill pride in our Jewish heritage. We invite you to join us in our mission to enhance lives and cultivate a dynamic Jewish community. Our center isn't just a location—it's a safe haven where we can come together to honor and celebrate our shared heritage. Amidst today's challenges, the need for community unity is more pressing than ever.

In light of these events, we have taken proactive steps to enhance the safety and security of our local community. We have expanded our security team by hiring additional armed personnel and have ramped-up our collaboration with the Miami Beach Police Department, who have been true partners in our community safety efforts. We are also grateful for the ongoing support from the JCC Association and resources from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation's Security Office.

These important but unanticipated security measures are costly and represent a significant use of our agency’s resources. Because of this, we have created an “Enhanced Security Fund” to assist with covering some of these costs. We ask that, if you are able, to please consider donating towards these important efforts. A donation of any amount helps to keep our community safe. A gift of $1,800 will cover the cost of one security guard for approximately two weeks. When making your donation, please select the “Enhanced Security Fund”.

Thank you for standing with us. We are Powered by Community. Am Yisrael Chai!

Miami Beach Candidates Forum

On Monday night, the Miami Beach JCC was honored to host a SOLD-OUT Miami Beach Candidates Forum featuring the mayoral and city commission candidates. The forum provided a platform for our community to engage with the candidates, ask important questions, and learn more about their visions for Miami Beach. This event was made possible through our wonderful partnership with the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Special thanks to our fantastic moderator and former MBJCC camper, Morgan Rynor from CBS-4, who kept the conversation engaging and informative!

We couldn't have done it without our incredible co-sponsors: Yes to Arts, National Council of Jewish Women, Miami Beach Bar Association, Greater Miami Jewish Federation's JCRC, Mid-Beach Matters, and CBS-4. Your support made this evening truly special.

18 Days in October

On Tuesday, we hosted a deeply insightful event marking the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, a conflict that forever shaped the Middle East. Hosted at Temple Menorah and co-sponsored by the MBJCC, this special evening featured a compelling presentation by acclaimed author Uri Kaufman on his book, "18 Days in October: The Yom Kippur War and How it Created the Modern Middle East."

Kaufman's book delves into the war's immediate impact and enduring significance. From the tensions within Israel's cabinet contemplating the use of nuclear weapons to the war's pivotal role in shaping geopolitical and economic frameworks, the discussion was both sobering and enlightening.

We were also privileged to have Israeli Consul General Maor Elbaz Starinsky join us for the evening.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Jewish Book Council, Books&Books, and The Betsy Writers Room @thebetsyhotel for their generous support in making this literary event possible.

We are thankful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this eye-opening evening! If you missed out, stay tuned for more upcoming events that delve into critical aspects of Jewish history, culture, and contemporary issues.

Literary Series Naming

We are thrilled to announce a monumental milestone in the history of MBJCC Arts & Culture!

In honor of Barbara Eisenberg, a dedicated longtime member and committee chair, we're proudly naming this year's Literary Series, "The Barbara Eisenberg Literary Series."

A heartfelt thank you to Ronalee Galbut for her incredibly generous donation that supports Jewish literature by bringing renowned authors and their remarkable books to our MBJCC community.

We couldn't have achieved this without you. Together, we are #PoweredByCommunity
