Camp Klurman's Summer To Remember

Camp Klurman has wrapped up another amazing summer season full of fun, learning, and adventure. The campers had a blast exploring new activities, making new friends, and discovering their Jewish identity. Every summer has a story, and this one was no exception.

The camp offered a variety of programs for different age groups and interests, such as sports, arts, science, robotics, cooking, music, dance, and more. The campers had the opportunity to develop new skills, express their creativity, and challenge themselves in a supportive and nurturing environment. The camp also organized special events and field trips throughout the summer, such as water park days, carnival days, beach days, museum visits, and overnight trips. The campers enjoyed these exciting experiences with their peers and counselors, who became like family.

Central to our mission is building a vibrant Jewish community. Camp Klurman seamlessly integrated Jewish values, Shabbat celebrations, Israeli culture, and more into daily life. Israeli schlichim enhanced campers' connection to their heritage and roots.

Camp Klurman would not have been possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff, volunteers, parents, and supporters who made this summer a success. We appreciate your trust and commitment to choosing Camp Klurman for your children’s summer experience. We hope you are proud of your children’s achievements and growth during this summer. We also hope you will join us again next summer for another unforgettable adventure at Camp Klurman. Thank you for being part of our Camp Klurman family!

Team Miami Beach Takes Gold (Again) at the JCC Maccabi Games!

The JCC Maccabi Games is an annual sporting event that brings together Jewish teens worldwide to compete in various sports and celebrate their culture and heritage. This year, the games were held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, from August 6 to 11, 2023, and Team Miami Beach was one of the 100 delegations that participated in the games.

Team Miami Beach performed remarkably at the games, winning medals in several sports and showing their talent and spirit. The most impressive achievement was the gold medal for the 16U Boys' Basketball Team, who beat 26 other teams to claim the top spot. The team faced Brooklyn's The Center delegation in the final and won by a narrow margin of 63-61 in one of the best finals in the history of the Maccabi Games. The team played passionately and determined, representing their delegation with pride and honor.

Other notable accomplishments for Team Miami Beach include:

  • The bronze medal for the lacrosse team, who demonstrated their skills and teamwork against tough opponents.
  • The bronze medal for the girls' volleyball team, who displayed their coordination and communication on the court.
  • The gold medal for pickleball was won by Amit Zalman, a new sport introduced at this year's games that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.

Besides the athletic competitions, Team Miami Beach also enjoyed the social and cultural aspects of the games, such as the opening and closing ceremonies, the home hospitality with local Jewish families, the community service projects, and the Hangtime activities with Israeli schlichim. The games offered a unique opportunity for Team Miami Beach to connect with other Jewish teens from different backgrounds and regions, learn about Jewish values and traditions, and have fun.

Team Miami Beach was a shining example of what the JCC Maccabi Games are about: sportsmanship, friendship, identity, and community. Congratulations to all the participants and medalists of Team Miami Beach! You made us proud!
