Changes to the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)
Supporting Canadian Workers and Businesses with a redesigned Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy
Today the Finance Minister, Bill Morneau, announced proposed changes to the CEWS that would broaden the reach of the program and provide better targeted support so that more workers can return to their jobs quickly as the economy restarts. 
Adapting the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy to Protect Jobs and Promote Growth
The government is proposing a further extension of the CEWS, until December 19, 2020, providing proposed program details until November 21, 2020, and has shared draft legislative proposals.

Ontario Extends Emergency Orders

The Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, has extended most emergency orders currently in force under s.7.0.2 (4) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) until July 29, 2020.
