Government Introduces Legislation to Support Canadian Workers
Government introduces legislation to support Canadian workers, businesses and persons with disabilities
Finance Minister Bill Morneau introduced in Parliament Bill C-20, An Act respecting further COVID-19 measures. Upon receiving Royal Assent, this legislation would make the CEWS more targeted, expand eligibility, and help more workers get back to their jobs as the economy continues to reopen.
The Government of Canada is providing funding to support child care for returning workers
Today, the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, announced $625 million in federal support for Canada’s child care sector to help ensure that safe and sufficient child care spaces are available to support parents’ gradual return to work.

Canada United: A Program for SMEs
MEDIA RELEASE:
The Mississauga Board of Trade Joins Canada United to Support Local Businesses and Accelerate Small Business Recovery
The Mississauga Board of Trade (MBOT) announced it is joining Canada United, a national movement to support local businesses in communities across the country. As part of the movement, RBC has brought together more than 50 of Canada’s leading brands, Business Associations and the national Chamber network to rally Canadians to “show local some love” by buying, dining and shopping local.
Canadians are encouraged to watch the Canada United videos online at  GoCanadaUnited.ca , like posts from  @GoCanadaUnited  on social media and use #CanadaUnited to demonstrate their support. For each of these actions until August 31, 2020, RBC will contribute 5 cents up to a maximum contribution amount of $2 million to the new Canada United Small Business Relief Fund.

The program also offers an opportunity to apply for a program grant of up to $5,000. Please note: information sessions are mandatory to attend to qualify for this program. For Start-Ups and Main Street Businesses: August 4 and August 6, 2020, are available. For Music Industry Entrepreneurs: August 11 and August 13, 2020, are available.
