Today marks the beginning of Small Business Week in Canada. Every year, this is a time to celebrate Canadian small businesses and the enormous contributions they make every single day. This year, we recognize their incredible resilience. The impact of this crisis on small business owners cannot be overstated, and we recognize the sacrifices they have had to make.

SMALL BUSINESS: TOO BIG TO IGNORE
The pandemic has highlighted challenges for small businesses: their access to digital technologies and skills. In advance of Small Business Week 2020, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Mississauga Board of Trade and partners are kicking off a vital conversation today about these gaps with the launch of their report, Small and Medium-Sized Employers (SMEs): Skills Gaps and Future Skills.

Ontario Supports Innovation and Job Creation in the Life Sciences Sector
The Ontario government welcomes the decision by Roche to invest $500 million over five years to establish a Global Pharma Technical Operations site to oversee its global supply chain in Mississauga. This investment is expected to create 500 jobs ― 200 by the end of 2020 and up to 300 more by the end of 2023. It will enhance Ontario’s competitiveness and leadership in the life sciences sector.
Ontario Making Government Services More Convenient, Reliable, and Accessible
The Ontario government released an action plan to make government services simpler, easier to use, and more convenient and accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Ontario Onwards: Ontario’s COVID-19 Action Plan for a People-Focused Government includes more than 30 projects that will improve the way people and businesses interact with government, saving them both time and money.
The Mississauga Board of Trade would like to congratulate its member Roche Canada on the announcement to invest $500 million over five years to establish a Global Pharma Technical Operations site to oversee its global supply chain in Mississauga.

This investment is expected to create 500 jobs ― 200 by the end of 2020 and up to 300 more by the end of 2023. It will enhance Ontario's competitiveness and leadership in the life sciences sector.

The Global Pharma Technical Operations site will be responsible for supporting Hoffmann-La Roche Limited's global manufacturing and supply chain operations, including monitoring safety, quality and distribution of pharmaceutical products shipped around the world.

Hoffmann-La Roche Limited (Roche Canada) has announced a major jobs investment into Ontario’s life sciences industry that will bring up to 500 highly skilled and specialized full-time positions to the City of Mississauga. Roche Canada’s $500 million dollar investment over five years will establish a Global Pharma Technical (PT) Operations site at its Mississauga pharmaceutical headquarters.
