Government provides update on support for furloughed employees under the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, is proposing to extend the current treatment of furloughed employees under the wage subsidy program for the upcoming four-week period, from September 27 to October 24, 2020.
Government of Canada introduces legislation to support Canadians through Recovery Benefits and extend access to funds for emergency measures
The Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Chrystia Freeland, and the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, Carla Qualtrough, announced the introduction of Bill C-2, to create three new temporary Recovery Benefits to support Canadians who are unable to work for reasons related to COVID-19.

New Public Health Measures Implemented Provincewide to Keep Ontarians Safe
In consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, and other health experts, the Ontario government has amended order O. Reg 364/20: Rules for Areas in Stage 3 under the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020, to tighten public health measures in response to the recent rise in cases of COVID-19.
Ontario Investing More Than $1 Billion to Expand COVID-19 Testing and Contact Tracing
The Ontario government is building on the largest provincial testing initiative in Canada by providing $1.07 billion to expand COVID-19 testing and case and contact management. The government is also immediately investing $30 million to prevent and manage outbreaks in priority sectors, including the province’s long-term care homes, retirement homes and schools.
