At the historic Claremont Club, Mira Costa Girls Tennis won the first CIF Division 1 tennis championship in school history and the tennis team’s first championship of any kind since 1976 by defeating Dana Hills 13-5.

In singles, Audrey Vo (MC) won two sets 6-0 and 6-1; and Nicole Wuelfing (MC) won two sets 6-1 and 6-0.. In doubles, Lindsay Giese/Peyton Douglas (MC) won two sets 6-4 and 6-4; Olga Nagy/Kacey Feng (MC) won three sets 6-1, 6-2, and 6-2; Haily Huynh/Sydney Vo (MC) won three sets 6-2, 6-0, and 7-6(14); and Sydney Miller/Evelyn Le (MC) won one set 7-6(7).

Costa students recognized on National Signing Day!
On National Signing Day, 18 Costa athletes that are planning to play a sport at the Collegiate lever were honored. The athletes will be playing a variety of sports which include girls volleyball, girls beach volleyball, baseball, swimming, boys water polo, and tennis.
Congratulations to these student athletes who signed their NCAA letters of intent!
These universities are very lucky to get our Mustangs next year!
Costa Cross Country dominates at CIF Prelims!
Mira Costa Cross Country continued to dominate at CIF Prelims last weekend! Congratulations to both Girls & Boys Varsity teams on advancing to CIF Finals next Saturday. Freshman Dalia Frias and Senior Cy Chittenden both won their respective Division 1 heats, with the girls’ team taking 1st place in their heat and the boys’ team placing 5th in theirs
Mira Costa Band and Colorguard take Las Vegas by Storm!
Costa band headed to Las Vegas with musicians, colorguard, instruments, uniforms, chaperones, flags, props, truck driving volunteers and pit crew to compete in the MBOS Championships. They took sixth place out of 20 bands and we are so proud!

Costa Boys Water Polo caps season with Runner-Up finish in CIF!

Costa Boys Water Polo has had a fantastic season, finishing with a 17-7 regular season record, a share of the Bay League title and a Runner-Up finish in CIF Southern Section Division 2, the highest finish ever for the program in Division 2.  Read More
Congratulations to the Mustang Morning News staff!
They travelled to Chicago last weekend for the National High School Journalism Convention where they picked up several awards, including top awards for Broadcast News Writing (Julia DiGregorio), Video Editing (Maya Pow), News Story (Camille Murray and Shay Mishra), Broadcast Package (Kaitlyn Sciarrino and Miles Isgrig) and Short Documentary (Maya Hernandez and Lauren Mittleman). Adviser Michael Hernandez led the trip where he also presented several sessions.
Shout out to the Costa Wrestling Alumni!
Sasha Medvidovic is wrestling for USC. She currently won 16-0 against UCLA. Additionally, Ariel Flora is wrestling for UCLA.
Miles Gilliam attends John Hopkins University, and was recently wrestling in a tournament against Jamie Krigsman of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. They are in the same weight class and may have to wrestle one another before the day is through.

Costa Rugby 4th Annual Little Ruggers Day Camp Big Success!
The Mira Costa Boys and Girls Rugby team did a fantastic job as camp counselors for the 4th Annual Little Ruggers Day Camp. The campers aged from 5 to 14 had a great time learning skills, playing games, having lunch and going home with a very cool Mira Costa Rug­by T-shirt. Read More
CHOICE Updates!
The Young adults of CHOICE had very successful fundraising campaign in October.
They all worked together to assemble The Pumpkin Race Kits last month.
The kits were sold online, at the Farmers Market and the day of the Pumpkin Race.
They sold out of kits before lunch! CHOICE also kicked off the races with the very first race!
It was a great day!
Next month, CHOICE will be doing POP UP SHOPS to sell Made by CHOICE items for the holidays …details to follow.
Drama updates for November!
ComedySportz Match This Friday
On Friday, Nov. 16th, Mira Costa’s ComedySportz team will compete against Palos Verdes High School at 7 pm in the MCHS Small Theatre.
Don’t miss your chance to see our CSz home team in action in this comedic improv battle!

Holiday Benefit Show Dec. 4th
Come see Mira Costa Drama/Tech’s Holiday Benefit Show Tuesday, Dec. 4th, 7 pm, in the MCHS Small Theatre. Tickets are $5 at the door, and all proceeds go to the Drama/Tech Department’s Adopt-A-Family to help a family in need. Please join the talented students of Mira Costa for a night of holiday cheer. Cyber Security Competition is underway!
The 2018/2019 Northrop Grumman Cyber Patriot competitive season is underway and Mira Costa has nine teams training and participating in these national information security events.
