Dear Middle Campus Families,

I hope that this message finds you well and enjoying the (soon to be) season of advent and all of the anticipation and hope that it brings.

Not only does this season contain memory-making and warm apple cider, it also includes progress reports! On Monday, you will find your child’s Term 1 Progress Report in your Parent Portal. These are celebrations of learning along with important feedback regarding next steps. Please take time to review them. As you do, you will notice a new section in the Middle Campus reports titled, ‘Learning in Community’. This section of the report mirrors the 4 words found in our Community Agreements: respect, integrity, service and teachability. In each of its sections, you will receive feedback on these important personal and social competencies that your child is developing while learning in community at the Middle Campus.

I hope to see many of you at our Christmas concert at the Secondary Campus this upcoming week.

With warm regards,

Angela Laing

Comfy Cozy Lit Day

We had a blast at our 'Comfy Cozy Literacy Morning' this week. Students had a chance to silent read, explore new books, enjoy audiobooks and of course, wear their pajamas all day! The morning wrapped up with an exciting book trivia challenge, with 6W emerging as victorious! The library league played a crucial role in orchestrating the day by creating themed book displays, promoting new releases through book talks, and helping to create our trivia game. It was awesome to witness their leadership and passion for reading impact our school in such a big way! See some photos below from the morning.

Christmas Making

Christmas fun is in the making! We’re crafting up a festive display for the LC together, and we’ve had lots of elves hard at work this week to bring it to life. Students have been crafting felt trees and designing little Nordic houses with cardstock, or in Tinkercad to be 3D printed. We can’t wait to see our snowy Christmas village come together!

Keva Plank Olympic Winners!

The KEVA Plank Olympics were a tremendous success! With 10 participating teams, we got to witness so many innovative and creative designs throughout the week. The results are in, and the trophy has been claimed. Congratulations to our winning team who got to enjoy their rice-krispie trophy and don their 3D printed medals last week!

Grade 7 Science

Students began investigating the properties of Electromagnetism, creating electromagnets from wire, batteries and iron nails. Iron filings helped illustrate the shape of magnetic fields, creating very interesting patterns and forms.

Grade 6 Girls Tripleball

This fall, the Gr.6 girls Tripleball team which is made up of 19 members practised diligently each week. Their hard work culminated in their participation at the CESS Tournament at White Rock Christian Academy. The two RCS teams attained a well-deserved 3rd place and a hard-fought and respectable 5th place result. Kudos to both teams for showing the true RCS spirit of sportsmanship, fair play and having too much fun—well done girls!

Lastly, a special thank you to Mr. Man, Ms. Clarke, and the grade 8 helpers for all your contributing efforts towards this team.

Mr. Liew

Grade 7 Boys Tripleball

Our two Gr.7 Boys Teams went to CESS Tripleball Tournament out in Langley Christian School. The teams played in different pools in the morning, and both placed on top in their pools. In the afternoon, they played with the top teams, and, in their last game, they played two sets against each other. Team 1 received 1st place and Team 2 received 2nd place. The boys showed great sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership. Thank you, Mrs. Clarke, for stepping in last minute to help! Go Eagles!

Grade 7 Girls Tripleball

Our Grade 7 Girls team fought hard to go onto to the finals in the CESS Tournament at Surrey Christian. The team took the first set but lost the second set in a very close match. The final third set was a race to 15 points, and it was a back-and-forth match. However, the girls continued to compete for every point and although being down a few points, they completed the come back and won the set 17-15. The team won the tournament and came in first. They are commended for how well they played, and the other coach acknowledged our team spirit and great sportsmanship. Congratulations to the team on how well they played and each member should be proud about their individual improvement over this season. Also, thank you to our two grade 8 helpers who came for the day.

Grade 8 Girls Volleyball

The Grade 8 girls volleyball team showed determination and skill throughout the season, culminating in a well-deserved victory as they clinched the district banner. The girls continued to shine as they advanced to the quarterfinals at the highly competitive South Fraser Zones tournament. Facing tough opponents from across the region, our athletes demonstrated resilience and skill. Beyond the wins and losses, this season has been filled with memorable moments of friendship, laughter, and personal growth. They have not only represented our school with pride but have also embodied the spirit of true athletes. Congratulations to our Grade 8 girls volleyball team on a very successful season!

Basketball Season

As we finally wrapped up volleyball season, we jump right into our basketball season. Students have already signed-up to join and we have just begun practices. It is very important for these students who are part of the team to communicate with their coaches whether they will be missing a practice or must leave early. We are encouraging students that it is their responsibility as a player to keep track of their own schedule and to know when practices take place. I’ve updated our MC Athletics Calendar with all practice times and any future games. Besides Microsoft Teams, this calendar should be the next best place for them to check.

I want to take this time to thank the following coaches and teachers for the passion they have for this sport and for dedicating their time to coach the students. 😊
