MC Notes: November 9, 2023

Please come by and see the brand new display of artwork in our Main Office Hallway featuring unique and beautiful pumpkins by our very own Art 1 students. Great work MC Artists!

Multi-Colored Pumpkins

The Art 1 classes have been advancing their skills & knowledge of shape & form to create and maintain the illusion of light and form with the use of layering primary & secondary colored pencils. The Multi-Colored Pumpkins are the product of each artist's practice, which have their own unique individual aesthetics and forms.

Gratitude Week: November 13 - 17

Please join ASB in celebrating Gratitude Week on campus from Monday, November 13 to Friday, November 17. This week is an opportunity for us to come together as a school community and give thanks to those around us who impact our lives every day. During this week, we encourage students to send notes to their teachers, counselors, coaches and mentors to thank them for all they do. In addition, students can purchase gratitude grams for $1 during lunch from Monday-Thursday to send to their friends and classmates. These grams will be delivered to classes on Friday.

Shoe Drive: Donate Lightly Used/New Sneakers

The Rotary Interact Club is supporting Sneaker Impact with an MC Shoe Drive. Sneaker Impact collects gently used or new sneakers (no other shoes, please) to keep them out of landfills and get them to people in need. The sneakers are refurbished and resold for a lower cost in developing countries, where affordable footwear is difficult to find. There will be boxes in the lobby and near the gym to drop off your sneaker donations. The Rotary Interact Club will ship our first boxes on November 16th. We will begin collecting again after the first of the year, so please hang onto your sneakers!

October Test Scores: First Released Out!

Sophomores and Juniors: The first release of PSAT test scores went out this week on November 6th. Scores will continue to be released until the 16th so students should keep an eye out for any updates from the CollegeBoard.

If students provided a mobile number on test day, they'll receive a text message with access to the BigFuture School mobile app. If students did not opt in, they can log into their personal College Board account at studentscores.collegeboard.org to get scores and learn more about Understanding Your Digital PSAT/NMSQT Score.

As a reminder, we are hosting Two Mock Test Days this month (11/11 & 11/18) and both Sophomores AND Juniors are encouraged to register if they want to take advantage after the release of PSAT scores or if students are looking to try out the ACT! To register, please visit this website.

New Campus Security Supervisor

Last week, we welcomed Gene Fruge to Marin Catholic as our new Campus Security Supervisor. Gene, who many students may know as "Coach" from the MC Football Program, has begun training and prep work for his new role and will be visible on campus after the Thanksgiving break. He will have several duties assisting the Deans, but will primarily be stationed in the front of the school, monitoring all who come and go on our campus. Gene already has a great rapport with many of our students from his time as a football coach and substitute teacher. He will be utilizing those skills in helping to monitor the lunch line in front of the cafeteria. In addition, Gene has spent most of his career in fundraising, so he will also be assisting the Advancement Office with stewardship and athletic fundraising as an Advancement Associate. We feel very fortunate to add Gene to our Wildcat community.

Senior Yearbook Quotes - Due December 1

We are excited to celebrate you in the yearbook. Below you will find very important information about your senior quote submission for the yearbook.

  • All senior quotes are reviewed carefully by the Yearbook moderators and Dean's office.
  • All quotes should have an author. You must state who said it. If you do not have a source, then your quote will not be approved.
  • Make sure if you are using a lyric from a song, the entirety of the song MUST be appropriate, which means that the lyrics should be clean and have no explicit or implicit references to sex, drugs, alcohol, etc
  • Choose your quote wisely because if it is not deemed appropriate, then you will not be given another chance.
  • You do not have to submit a senior quote. There is an option on the google form for you to opt-out. If you decide not to have a senior quote, the space under your graduation picture will be a blank space.

Fill out this FORM to submit your senior quote. Your yearbook quote is due by Friday, December 1.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Murphy, [email protected] or Mrs. Stoll, [email protected].
