Announcements: This Week

'The Friday T-Shirt' - Order By September 3 at Midnight!

*Please note, if you ordered a t-shirt earlier in the week and it went through, your shirt was ordered successfully. Later this week, the link was giving an error message. We have provided a new link below for those who have not yet placed an order. Please order by the 3rd.

New This Year! The Associated Student Body (ASB) made a proposal to the Dean's Office for an all-school shirt that students, faculty & staff could purchase and wear on Fridays in lieu of their polo shirt. We are excited to announce that this proposal has been approved for this year. If a student would like to purchase 'the Friday Shirt,' they may do so directly using this link by September 3. All t-shirts will be shipped to Marin Catholic and distributed to the students during lunch and after school.

Sundays at St. Vincent's: MC Community Mass

Fr. Ginter is the new priest at The Most Holy Rosary Chapel at St. Vincent's in Marinwood. He invites the Marin Catholic Community to join him on the first Sunday of every month. It is an excellent opportunity for students, parents, faculty, and staff to come together to pray and have fellowship. The first one is this Sunday, September 3rd, at 9:45 am. We hope to see you there.

Location:

The Most Holy Rosary Chapel at St. Vincent's

1 St. Vincent Dr, San Rafael

Cafe Reminders

We have been so happy to welcome our new food service vendor, CulinArt to our campus this year. As with anything new, we are still working out some kinks with the lunchtime routine in the 'Into The Deep' Cafe. Please be patience as we work to streamline the process of feeding our students, faculty & staff.

Please review these items:

  • The new cafe has some convenient 'grab & go' items. Unfortunately, some of these items have been disappearing off the shelves without payment. Students were informed today by the Dean's Office that cameras are being installed in the cafe. Stealing food from the cafe will not be tolerated.
  • If a student has not yet signed up for MyKidsSpending and plans to eat in the cafe, please do so immediately. An email was sent out to all families back in August with instructions on how to sign up and create an account. If you did not receive an email, please reach out to Mayra Palacios at [email protected]. Students will not be given food from the cafe without payment.
  • Food Allergies: The cafe cannot provide on demand custom orders. If a student has a particular food, please reach out to Mayra Palacios at [email protected].

Parent Faith Opportunities: For Parents Who Want to Grow in Faith with other MC Parents

Marin Catholic offers parents of current students and alumni three ways to grow in faith and community:

  • The Parent Ministry Book Club
  • The Parent Ministry Scripture and Faith Sharing Group
  • Our new free subscription to Formed.org, one of the best Catholic Christian teaching hubs on the Internet today.

For more information on all three of these opportunities as well as the dates, times, and locations, please see this flyer: Parent Ministry Faith Growth Opportunities

The Parent Ministry Book Group begins September 11th.

We have 3 books lined up for this year. The first one, Loved As I Am by Sr. Miriam James Heidland, S.O.L.T., helps us reassess just who we believe we are in relation to God. Do we really believe that God loves us individually? We hear God loves us all the time, but do we really believe this --in our hearts, not just in our heads? Come join us on selected Mondays from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m, beginning September 11th. For more information, email MC Parent Elise Brinck at [email protected].

Parent Ministry Scripture and Faith Sharing begins September 14th.

We will meet after our next all-school Mass on September 14th in the Principal's Conference Room near the chapel. No prior knowledge of the Bible is required. We will be reading and reflecting on the same Scripture passages as the MC Faculty and Staff this year.

For more information, email MC Parent Sara Tamer at [email protected].

Picture Information From Dorian - October 4

Picture Retake Day: Wednesday, October 4th

Dorian will be back on campus for picture retakes. Those students, faculty and staff, who did not have their photo taken yet, please plan to have your picture taken on the 4th. This is a mass day at school and so liturgy dress is required.

SENIOR Portraits: Wednesday, October 4th

Those students in the Class of 2024 that have not had their senior portrait taken, please plan to have your picture taken on the 4th. You must SIGN UP HERE to pick a time slot. Parents must create an account and password before a time slot can be chosen.

Questions? The Customer Service number for Dorian is 800.759.1234.

Word of the Week - Next week's word: Ambiguous

Last year we began a school-wide initiative to increase student literacy by focusing on one vocabulary word each week. The selected words are fairly common in texts but may not be part of students' working vocabulary. Use this link to find out more about this week's word, get tips for your home or classroom, and learn how to use this word in a sentence.

Back By Popular Demand: Daily Math Lab

For those students that would like some extra help in math, the Math Department will be hosting their daily Math Lab sessions. Please see the

Math Lab Schedule for times and locations.

Drop Off and Parking

Thank you everyone for your wonderful work in using the correct access points and for doing such a good job at drop off. Please make sure to keep the third lane, in front of the gym, a drive through lane. Do not drop students off in that lane. Seniors parking in the gym lot are doing a great job of entering through St. Sebastian’s. If someone is parked in your parking spot, park on sophomore hill and let the front office know about the issue. Do not park in someone else’s spot, you can lose your parking privileges.

Attendance

Students have been doing a wonderful job of attending class these past two weeks. Research shows that a major predictor of academic success is positive student attendance. If a student will be missing school (and the family knows ahead of time), students are required to get an absence form from the front office and have it filled out 1 week in advance.  Please make sure that all appointments are done outside of the school day and make coming to school a priority everyday. In the event of a student absence, parents/guardians must email the MC Attendance Office [email protected] school before 9:00 am.

Tech Corner

Student Wifi and Logging In

While on campus, students will access the "Student Device Network". Students are to ONLY connect their laptops to this network. Students should not connect their cell phones to the student wifi. If a student is having problems logging into the wifi, make sure that the student is not already logged in to the wifi with another device.

Google 2-Step Verification

It is important that the Marin Catholic community is proactive in protecting our MC google accounts. All students MUST enable the 2-step verification on their MC google account. By doing this, it will add an extra layer of security in case the password is stolen. Set up Google's 2-Step Verification.

If you have any questions or need tech support, please email [email protected] or stop by Mrs. Murphy's office located across from the library.
