A message from Joanna Quigley

Your work supporting young people and families is helping advance progress in youth mental health.

A new CDC survey highlighted how teen mental health has improved across several key measures since the COVID-19 pandemic, with fewer teens reporting persistent sadness or hopelessness, serious thoughts of suicide, and suicide attempts. Making continued gains in adolescent mental health requires the continued engagement of healthcare providers like you.

While this progress is encouraging, there is still much work to do. According to the survey, 33% of high school students reported persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness in the last 12 months, with 14% of teenagers reporting that they had seriously considered attempting suicide. Plus, while trends in youth mental health did improve over the past two years since their lowest point, they have not shown improvement from where they were 10 years ago.

The need for effective mental health care remains urgent, and our team is here to support you. If you need help supporting a pediatric or perinatal patient, request a consultation with our specialists today.
