SCHOOL-WIDE NEWS
October 17th is a Teacher Planning Day – No School for Students.
Lego Robotics Club Update

For students who are participating the in the Lego Robotics club, students will meet with Mr. Adams every Monday that school is in session. The meeting times will be from 3:20-4:20 and will be in Mr. Adams' room. Please make sure your students who are in attendance are picked up at 4:20 in the bus loop.
8th Grade Washington DC Trip
We held an informational meeting about the MCA 8th Grade Washington, D.C. trip that is planned for January 8th – January 13th, 2023. This trip is optional. All work/lessons missed will be the responsibility of the student to make up/turn in.  Attached you find the following documents:
  1. Synopsis of Trip
  2. Additional Information/Important Dates
  3. Behavior Contract
  4. Permission Form
  5. Medical Form
  6. Insurance information for trip cancellation (two types)
Please read all the information carefully. To keep the costs as they are documented on the Synopsis of Trip form, we must have at a minimum 85 students attend. If we do not meet this minimum the cost to attend does rise.
Please read the behavior contract carefully. This trip takes us out of state and many states away. If your student does not meet behavior criteria, they will be unable to attend. If there is a behavior issue during the trip, you will be responsible for the cost of your student’s early return.
Two questions were asked during our meeting that I wanted to share:
We are waiting for information from the tour company regarding inclement weather during the scheduled dates. Once we receive how this is handled as far as refunds and/or rescheduling we will share.
The use of cell phones during the trip for pictures during tours is considered appropriate. This is considered a school function and any inappropriate use of cell phones or violation of the district code of conduct will be addressed as a disciplinary action.
The following link provides more information about the trip and how to sign up/pay.
Please direct any questions to Stacy Stackhouse by email at stacy.stackhouse@stjohns.k12.fl.us. Please know this is not the only event we will have for our 8th grade students. Information will be sent in the future regarding end of the year activities such as 8th Grade Field Day, 8th Grade Dance, 8th Grade GradVenture at Universal Studios and more.
