Grades 3-5 STEM Fair

Greetings Mill Creek Academy Families,

Excitement is in the air as we announce the upcoming Mill Creek Academy STEM Fair! We are thrilled to invite our students to showcase their passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at this extraordinary event. The STEM Fair serves as a platform for our budding innovators to explore, create, and share their innovative projects.

This year, Mill Creek Academy is proud to partner with the St Johns School District STEM Expo, scheduled for April 17th, 2024. We encourage all enthusiastic students to apply for this unique opportunity to participate in a regional celebration of STEM excellence. It's a chance to not only exhibit their projects but also to engage with like-minded peers, professionals, and educators.

To be part of this exciting journey, students can submit their projects by February 12th, 2024 to their respective teachers. Whether it's a groundbreaking experiment, a fascinating technology project, an engineering marvel, or a captivating mathematical exploration, we want to showcase the diverse talents of our mustangs.

Let's inspire and celebrate the next generation of STEM leaders! Don't miss this chance to be part of the Mill Creek Academy STEM Fair and the St Johns School District STEM Expo.

We look forward to witnessing the incredible innovations that our students will bring to the forefront.

Best Regards,

Mark J. Adams

Celebrate Literacy Week and Beyond!

Mill Creek Academy has decided to hold a Read-a-thon again this year.

Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.

Our Read-a-thon starts Monday January 22, 2024 and goes through February 2nd.

About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/mcBbdQ/1 and following the simple instructions.

We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

We hope EVERYONE participates.

Thanks so much,

The week of January 22 – 26, 2024 is Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!

This year’s theme is: Believe in Your”Shelf”; Building Resiliency through Reading

We would like to have our families help us with filling our shelves with “selfies”

of students reading! Please send a picture or a selfie of your

child reading a book to their homeroom teacher. If it’s more comfortable, your student

may hide the lower portion of their face.

We will be posting the pictures in the cafeteria on grade level shelves to create a fun wall of “shelfies!”

Reminder: Unfortunately, School Lunch is not free to all students this year however if you need assistance you can apply for free or reduced lunch on the school districts website.  https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/food/free/

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!
