LEADING THE CHARGE OF LIFELONG LEARNING!
Dear Mustang Families,

This week we kickoff our 1st Annual Math-a-thon. This is a school-wide PTA sponsored event that will give our students the opportunity to "show what they know," for a good cause!

Tuesday, September 29 all students will receive their Math-a-thon packet including their grade specific practice test. Because this is a fun event, the test are grade level appropriate and were developed with standards at each grade level that have been practiced in prior years. We wanted this to be a way families could engage with their kiddos on math skills that will look very familiar to them. Even our "Graduates of 2033," our Kindergarten friends, will be able to access the questions with confidence and success.

Look for the Math-a-thon packets on Tuesday afternoon. This is a quick event, we will do the Math-a-thon test together, school-wide, on Wednesday, October 7. All students will participate regardless if they choose to participate in collecting pledges. Our students have grown tremendously as Mathematicians throughout the years and this will showcase their math thinking.

Please see this opportunity as fun for the whole family. The math practice that is sent home Tuesday with packets will look very similar to what students will see on October 7.

Finally, thank you for embracing my email and words I sent last week to our families. It was done in a way to help remind us, as a family, that regardless of our views every day we show up at MCA with the same purpose and vision we always have, "every student, every need, every day," NO MATTER the barriers we face. I cannot thank you enough for the outpouring of feedback and appreciation that you showed to our Staffulty on Friday. Sometimes, those unintended outcomes can be the greatest learning opportunities as a reflective practitioner.

Mighty Mustangs, we are unstoppable as a family. It is great to be a Mighty Mustang!

With greatest appreciation,
Amanda L. Riedl, Learning Leader

SAFETY MATTERS -

Our School Counselors will begin teaching the Child Safety Matters Curriculum starting with Lesson 1 the week of October 8th through October 19th and then with Lesson 2 the week of November 16th through November 30th

Our goal is to complete the curriculum prior to winter break with Kindergarten through fifth grades. This curriculum is recommended by the district and fulfills the required mandates put out by the state. For more information on the new state mandates related to mental health please see the following website: https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/mh-instruction/

We wanted to make sure we communicated with families in an efficient and timely manner. This gives our families time to educate themselves on the curriculum should they choose.

If you would like to explore the Child Safety Matters curriculum please visit www.mbfpreventioneducation.org or contact your grade level school counselor, Nicole Winogradow Ribeiro for grades K-3 and Amy Didomenico for grades 4-6. On the Child Safety Matters homepage, you are able to access curriculum samples for your viewing. In addition, at the top of website, you will find a tab (or three lines) that will lead you to additional program information with a printable brochure for parents.

We appreciate your support and know you will find the resources very helpful.
