LEADING THE CHARGE OF LIFELONG LEARNING!
|
|
Dear Mustang Families,
WOW, Week 1 was a huge success. Now, I didn't say it was easy and we didn't experience some challenges, because we did. What I mean is that regardless of the challenges, our students thrived as they returned to MCA, either as a SBDL or Brick & Mortar option.
I realize that we have some revisions and modifications that we still need to make both with brick and mortar and SBDL. I realize that our SBDL had some challenges with internet connectivity and developing consistent schedules and we will continue to work through this process. Although we learned a lot during the Spring regarding virtual learning, what we are learning now is how to balance the focus with both SBDL and brick and mortar.
We knew these were going to be some of our greatest challenges, no matter how well we tried to communicate, our commitment to using Schoology with fidelity for families to have a user-friendly version regardless of grade level, and our responsiveness to the needs of our families and students.
I want to say thank you for your patience and constant feedback on how we can make this experience the greatest for our students.
We need your continued feedback, both "glows and grows" to ensure our student needs are met with rigor and compassion.
Please read below for very important updates.
Sincerely,
Amanda L. Riedl, Learning Leader

MCA Families,
We appreciate your assistance in supporting our health and safety protocols here on campus. As a reminder, below is the student health screener questions. If you can say yes to any of the symptoms below for your child, please keep your child at home until you can say no to all symptoms. If you can say yes to the questions, follow the instructions in red.
Student Health Screening Entry Form
Please assess your child daily for the following symptoms and answer the contact questions.
- Fever of 100.4 or higher
- Uncontrolled cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Sore throat
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
- Muscle aches
- Vomiting or diarrhea
-
Is your child currently awaiting COVID-19 test results? If yes, please keep your child home and notify the school nurse when test results received. Further instructions will be discussed at that time.
-
Does your child live in the same household with someone positive for COVID-19? If yes, your child must quarantine for 14 days from the last date of contact with the positive individual. A negative test result does not reduce the quarantine requirement for the full 14 day incubation period.
-
Has your child had close contact with someone who in the past 14 days who tested positive for COVID-19? If yes, your child must quarantine for 14 days from the last date of contact with the positive individual. A negative test result does not reduce the quarantine requirement for the full 14 day incubation period.
Bus Reminders
- Please help us remind students that face coverings should be worn on buses. We know it is extremely difficult for our drivers to have to worry about students and face coverings. Your support and simple reminders is great appreciated.

Dismissal -
We need your help. Please see below for areas that we will continue to address this week but would ask for your support as we move forward. We are experiencing increased volume in our PPU lines due to the current situation and adding 8th grade.
We made progress last week, reducing our times significantly and we will continue to do so this week. As a reminder, we have one entrance/exit for cars and buses, which is why we have to be creative in how we bring cars in for PPU, as we have to leave entrance and exit routes for buses free of traffic.
Elementary PPU - please work to follow the guidelines below
- The first 10 cars should pull all the way through the PPU look and park at signs 1 - 10.
- The 2nd - 10 cars should park along-side the 1st 10 cars, pulling forward all the way to sign 1.
- There should only be 20 cars that are parked in the first 2 lanes.
-
Once the first 2 lanes are full, please use the RIGHT lane ONLY until completely FULL.
-
Once full, please begin to park in the left lane(lane closest to the road).
- Staffulty will be at dismissal by the time both lanes are full to help direct traffic.
Middle School PPU -
-
I would ask that MS PPU not arrive on campus until 3:05 or later.

Please call the front office at 547-3720 to leave a message and someone will get back to you.
I will be sending follow up communication on Thursday, September 10 regarding the process moving forward.

Reminder: Dropping items during the day -
|
During the first 9 weeks of school we will only receive student lunches if forgotten once the school day begins. As you know, limiting hallway traffic during the day is part of our safe and healthy return to school plan.
Should a student forget homework or something other than a lunch and you feel it is an emergency, please call the front office. However, we will make sure students have what they need when they arrive, like a forgotten water bottle, etc.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
