Public Awareness Weekend

It is with great sadness Public Awareness Weekend 2020 was canceled. Governor Wolf called on all nonessential businesses in the county to close or implement alternative work strategies due to concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Because there is a lot we don't know at this point, the situation is fluid and it was necessary to alter our operations. We greatly appreciate all of our organizations and volunteers that were coming to participate in Public Awareness Weekend, and we hope to work with you again in the near future.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we all work through this difficult situation. Our highest priority is the health and well-being of everyone in the MCA-TV family and our community at large. We look forward to hosting Public Awareness Weekend again in the future.
MCA-TV COVID-19 Update
As you know by now, MCA-TV is currently closed to the public due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Right now, all of our scheduled programs are postponed. As soon as we can open out doors to the public again, we will let you know so we can resume filming!

The Township of Moon administrators continue to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and are receiving the latest updates from the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) and agencies with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This continues to be a very fluid situation and we will continue to update the public.
Township administrators urge staff and residents to stay home if you feel sick. In addition, please follow common sense, but important, preventative measures.

Volunteer Spotlight
Sandra Islas

Q. Give us a brief description of yourself.

I am a Mexican girl from Mexico city, very curious about everything a good observer and listener, I don't talk too much. I love photography, U2, and dogs too!

Q. How long have you been a volunteer at MCA-TV?

I have been a volunteer almost 2 years.

Q. What inspired you to take our production class?

Since we arrived to the USA I have been a volunteer in different places. I am a graphic designer, so this opportunity has been fantastic to learn more about the new technology and practice a little bit what I studied.
Q. What do you enjoy most about volunteering at MCA-TV?

I really enjoy the feeling of community and the American spirit to help any way they can. Is a good opportunity to practice my English too!!

Q. Do you have any other shows you'd like to create in the future?

I haven't planned anything yet but if you can handle my English I would like to produce a show about different cultures around the world. Maybe some Spanish lessons?
Studio Update
The studio control room update is done and we cannot wait for you to see it!

As soon as we are cleared to open our doors back to the public, we will let you know so we can start filming in the studio again.

While we are closed to the public, we are in the studio! If you have an idea for a new show and want to borrow equipment to film at home, contact the MCA-TV office today by email at [email protected] and reserve equipment. This allows our producers to keep reaching their audiences while everyone is stuck inside and watching TV!

Once we are up and running, we will host an open house with a date TBD ,  for volunteers to come in and get familiar with the new setup. Stay tuned for more information soon!
La Mia Cucina Update
Since we can't film new episodes right now, our very own La Mia Cucina host, Pam Krug, has provided us with a new recipe to make your own sanitizer during these uncertain times. Stay safe!

Producing a show is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Pitch your show idea to Allison Ford
2. Schedule a production date
3. Watch your show on MCA-TV

The rules are pretty simple, any Moon resident can produce a show or non-residents can work with a community producer to sign off on their production and help gather volunteers!

What is a community producer, you ask?
A community producer is a Moon Township resident that has gone through our production course.

If you are not a community producer, we can help pair you up with one!  We currently have about 15 active community producers ready to help you get your show on the road!  The process is easy! Just contact Allison Ford at [email protected] with information about your idea and you are on your way!
