Vaccine Confidence Update

The Massachusetts Vaccine Confidence Project (MVCP) is a collaboration of the Immunization Division, Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), the Massachusetts Adult Immunization Coalition (MAIC), and the Massachusetts Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (MCAAP).

The MVCP’s mission is to increase vaccine confidence throughout Massachusetts to ensure that all residents are fully protected against serious, vaccine-preventable disease. This is accomplished through the development of educational activities and science-based resources and training materials for healthcare providers and the public, and collaboration with organizations which support immunization.

Recent MVCP Activities and Events

  • On October 1, the MVCP emailed Massachusetts healthcare providers asking for their help in promoting immunization to reduce respiratory disease across Massachusetts during this year's respiratory illness season. The letter included resources and suggestions for improving immunization uptake throughout the season.
  • On October 3, the MVCP distributed a "Special Edition" Respiratory Illness Season newsletter dedicated to improving immunization confidence during the respiratory illness season. The newsletter includes practical strategies for increasing immunization uptake.
  • In September the MVCP announced a new training program for Community Health Workers. The Vaccination Community Navigator Training, offered through Vaccinate Your Family, aims to improve CHWs' ability and confidence to encourage vaccination and navigate people to vaccine services. The program is free, and is offered in English and Spanish. Click here to learn more.
  • The MVCP, through the Massachusetts Immunization Initiative Webinar series, hosted three webinars. Click here to access the webinar recordings and additional resources.

Upcoming MVCP Activities and Events

  • The MVCP will be exhibiting at the MIAP Conference (10/30/24) and the Massachusetts School Nurse Organization (MSNO) Fall Conference (11/2/24).
