A must-see for lovers of American folk art, Cogswell’s Grant was the summer home of renowned collectors Bertram K. and Nina Fletcher Little. The colonial-era farmhouse is a rich backdrop for their celebrated collection, assembled over nearly sixty years. Though known for their research, the Littles decorated with an eye for visual delight rather than historical accuracy. Their home is rich in atmosphere and full of strong, even quirky character.

Upcoming Exhibition: Dorothy Kerper Monnelly, Brad Story, and the Great Marsh
June 18-July 30, 2021 at the CAM Green
A special exhibition of works by Essex sculptor Brad Story and Ipswich photographer Dorothy Kerper Monnelly will be held at the Janet & William Ellery James Center at the Cape Ann Museum Green located at 13 Poplar Street in Gloucester, MA. Monnelly’s and Story’s artwork intersect with the theme of the Great Marsh with Monnelly’s images capturing the ever-changing form and texture of the landscape and Story’s sculptures epitomizing the beauty and variety of wildlife that inhabits it. Together the artists remind us not only of what an amazing and abundant resource the Great Marsh is but also of our responsibility to conserve it. May at Hammond Castle Museum is bursting with life! We have begun our 46th season and are now open daily for guided tours. The grounds are exploding with greenery and flowers and the smell of spring is in the air.
Guided tours will allow you entrance to the Museum where the unique home of John Hays Hammond, Jr. has been preserved. Your tour guide will share stories about the life of Hammond, a prolific inventor, traveler, and collector of old-world antiquities. His home, designed in the style of a medieval castle, will make you feel like you have been transported back in time for the day. In addition, we have a full calendar of events coming up for the summer; from kids events to music and movies on the back lawn.

Be sure to check the website regularly for updates. Guided tours are on the half hour, and run from 10 am – 3pm with the Museum closing at 4pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance on the website. For more information call 978-283-2080 or visit hammondcastle.org. Hammond Castle Museum is located at 80 Hesperus Avenue, Gloucester.
