MCAN News and Meeting Reminder
Your Latest MCAN Updates
Our Moonshot Community Action Network (MCAN) is a professional learning community working collaboratively in support of our Moonshot Moment goal - to ensure that children are ready for kindergarten and that 90% of our children are reading on grade level by the end of third grade!

Our framing question is:
"What does it take for IRC's community leaders to operate as a high-performing team such that we lead the way, are stronger together, inspired and unstoppable in taking a stand for children and thereby fueling our community's economic vitality?"

Survey for Summer Program Providers:

For the past five years, we have coordinated with our fabulous afterschool / summer program providers to incorporate literacy and a shared "Moonshot Moment" theme into the summer programs.

The workshops have been a networking and learning experience, in support of our Moonshot Moment goal for children to be ready for kindergarten and reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade.

This year, we are interested in offering a virtual workshop - to share and learn with each other. If you are a summer or afterschool program provider, please take this short survey to help us understand your interest and availability -

Campaign for Grade-Level Reading - WWCC 2.0
wwcc what's working
"We are deeply inspired by the many leaders and funders of the 300+ local community initiatives that are the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) who are improvising and innovating to attend to the urgent needs in their communities. Many kudos". – Ralph Smith

WWCC 2.0

The Campaign for Grade Level Reading has created a "What's Working Community Challenge 2.0" to build on the stories we submitted for Pacesetter review. The "WWCC 2.0" will focus on stories of how CGLR communities are innovating and improvising to support parent success during this unprecedented challenge. The stories will be curated and shared across the network with the aspiration that communities will use them to generate new insights, inspire action and energize demand for strengthening the nation’s systems of care, services and supports for families.

Please consider submitting one story (or more) to describe the great work you have done in response to the changing conditions resulting from Covid-19.

Learn more about the topics/categories here - and contact Marie O'Brien, mobrien@TheLearningAlliance.org to share your story for submission!
