The music of Broadway comprises a wide range of themes, styles, and stories. MCBB will present a program with some of the best music to have come from The Great White Way, including Les Misérables, Hamilton and Porgy & Bess, plus a medley of music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Breezin Down Broadway, a medley by Goff Richards, provides a lively opening to the concert with tunes from Broadway shows like Kiss Me Kate (1948), My Fair Lady (1956), The Music Man (1957), and more.
The second half of our show opens with You Can't Stop the Beat, the "contagiously elating" final number in the 2002 musical Hairspray. Members of the Hairspray Live! cast lovingly mocked the song as “You Can’t Stop to Breathe.”
Our season concludes with Les Misérables, a crowd pleaser that has been entertaining audiences around the world since its 1985 premiere in London. With some of the most recognisable songs in musical theatre, the classic story of Jean Valjean and revolutionary France is the longest-running musical in the history of the West End. This Concert Suite from Les Misérables highlights the very best of Boublil & Schӧnberg's Tony Award-winning score, arranged for brass band by Gavin Somerset.
