Bear Hug Mountain Festival is Taking Applications

Bear Hug is accepting applications. The price, $170, includes cabin space or tent site, food, music, dancing, staff concert, and unforgettable camaraderie. The preferred application deadline was July 31, so add $10 per participant if you apply today. Find out more information about registration online here. Limited scholarships available to dancers 25 or younger (contact Sarah 257-2801). The Bear Hug Mountain Festival is a contra dance and music camp on September 9-11, 2016.

Peter McCoy  shares from his new book  Radical Mycologyan exploration of local mycology and mushroom cultivation.

In 2006 Peter McCoy founded Radical Mycology, a grassroots organization dedicated to increasing awareness of the many ways to work with fungi for personal, societal, and ecological health. Nearly a decade later, McCoy has written Radical Mycology to share the wide array of skills and insights that have arisen from the organization's international work to advance the science of appropriately applied mycology. 
Rolie Polie Guacamole

Rolie Polie Guacamole returns to Families First Children's Museum Tuesday, Aug. 2, for two special performances. This educational and entertaining musical group has released several albums and played more than 1,500 shows nationwide. They also won Parents' Choice and NAPPA awards. Come join in on the fun! Shows are scheduled for 10:30 and 11:30 AM and are included in museum admission!
Fact & Fiction Signing

Author Kathleen Snow will sign copies of her books, Taken by Bear (non-fiction) and Searching for Bear Eyes (fiction) on Saturday, August 6th at 10:30 AM.  The signing will take place at Fact & Fiction's downtown location.

Symphony in the Park

The Missoula Symphony Orchestra returns to Caras Park on Sunday, August 14, at 7:00 PM for its annual Symphony in the Park concert. Music Director Darko Butorac will lead the orchestra through a lively program of movie scores, dance numbers and light classics. Food and beverage may be purchased from on-site vendors and lawn chairs are encouraged. Call for Teen Actors: Seussical, Jr.

Calling all teens who love the stage! The Missoula Children's Theatre has a brand new program just for grades 7-12. Afterschool classes for Seussical, Jr. begin Aug. 30. One month of rehearsals and you'll be performing this hit Broadway musical for your friends and family!  A fantastical extravaganza, this musical weaves together the stories of favorite Dr. Seuss characters, with the Cat in the Hat guiding the way. Drum Brothers Outdoor Concert

At 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10th, Drum Brothers world percussion ensemble will be giving a concert at the newly renovated gazebo on the grounds of Daly Mansion in Hamilton. The concert is  $5 per person. For more information, please visit www.dalymansion.org
Killdeer Artisans' Guild Summer Raffle

Killdeer Artisans' Guild is holding a summer raffle fundraiser. The raffle is for a watercolor by artist Jim Boot titled, " Patchy Valley Fog With Chance of Bull," retailed at $450. You may v iew Boot's watercolors at Hangin' Art Gallery in Arlee.

Local artist collective, VonCommon, and the Roxy Theater are collaborating to bring you "VonCommon VonDays!" a screening series every other Monday night that showcases documentaries, short films, and stop motions about artists and art movements by local and regional filmmakers.  Check out the Roxy Theater's  schedule for details.

The Zootown Arts Community Center seeks a Development Director. MAM's Art Guide Program trains dedicated individuals to lead tours of MAM exhibitions for all ages. Employing the Visual Thinking Strategies approach, Art Guides reach audiences by helping them learn to look at, appreciate, and respond to contemporary art.
