MCC Foundation's Board of Directors approved a budget of $851,000 to support student scholarships, the largest scholarship budget in the Foundation's history.
 
“We are thrilled to be able to support so many students with our largest scholarship distribution in foundation history,” said TJ Benoit ’81, chair of the MCC Foundation scholarship and disbursement committee. 

Charles Morgan is a scholarship recipient preparing for a career in respiratory care: "My grades have soared now that I am not overwhelmed by financial uncertainty. I am so close to achieving my dreams and giving back to the people and communities who have helped me."
MCC Moves Raises
$4K for Scholarships
In October, Manchester Community College staff and faculty walked, hiked, biked and ran to raise funds for student scholarships, raising $4,055.

Professors Carla Adams (far-right) and Allison MacKenzie (right) co-founded MCC Moves in 2018. "Our goal was to promote health and connection to one-another for staff and faculty, while also having a positive impact for the hard-working students at MCC," said Adams.
Janice Tirinzonie recently endowed a scholarship at MCC in honor of her deceased brother John. John had been "a strong promoter of education, especially at MCC." Tirinzonie said that she "feels fortunate to be contributing to the future success of MCC students."

In addition to the John Tirinzonie Endowed Scholarship fund, three additional endowed funds have recently been established at MCC Foundation. They will help provide long-term support to advance the mission of the college.
Fernanda Sulantay Vargas began her education at MCC as an ESL student. With support from MCC professors, she excelled in her coursework and was connected to opportunities beyond the college. This included an internship as a research assistant in Princeton's Molecular Biophysics Research Experience for Undergraduates Program.

Fernanda graduated from MCC in 2017. She went on to UConn and graduated magna cum laude in 2020. Now she is a PhD candidate in chemical engineering at Yale.

Peter Grose, President, is the former CEO of Fuss & O'Neil, an engineering firm based out of Manchester. He assumes his new role after previously serving as MCC Foundation's Vice President since 2018.
Yvonne Martin, Vice President, has been an MCC Foundation Board Director since 2013. Now retired, she previously served as the senior director for global strategic accounts at Otis Elevator Company.
Michael B. Lynch Jr, Treasurer, is the president of Lynch Toyota in Manchester. He has previously served as MCC Foundation President and co-chaired MCC Foundation's first capital campaign.
Bethany Silver '90 is the Chief Performance Officer for Hartford Public Schools. Prior to this, she served as the assistant superintendent for accountability and performance for Bloomfield Public Schools.
