It is our honor to announce the recipients of

Metropolitan Community Churches Awards for 2025!


Nominated by MCCers from around the world, these individuals and congregations are beacons

of light, offering hope, joy, and justice.

Recognizing dedicated and faithful service by an MCC Clergy person, the Rev. John Hose Award is given to Rev. Elder Carolyn Mobley-Bowie for over 30 years as clergy and 50 years in MCC.

ICM Brasil received a grant to market ICMs through social media, and the awardee for Technology Excellence is Gustavo Dantas, who led this project.

The Emerging Ministry Award recognizes a ministry that embodies MCC’s vision and values, and shows promise of growth and success. Hope and Unity MCC has been reborn and is now thriving again. The congregation has recently received affiliated church status. 

Named after founder Rev. Troy Perry’s mother, the Edith Allen Perry award is given this year to Ann McGee (MCC of the Palm Beaches), who not only loved her birth son unconditionally, she continues actively supporting her local MCC four decades later.

Phee Mabel, from ICM Rio de Janeiro has been awarded the Bob Crocker Award for Excellence in Music Ministry, which is given to celebrate excellence in music ministry locally or globally.

The Ed Paul Award is given to an outstanding Interim Pastor. Rev. Renae Phillips saw the church through THREE location changes during her tenure at King of Peace MCC.

Given to those who have revived a church or ministry, the Phoenix Award is given to Rev. Amie Giordano for rekindling the spirit in her small church. Even as she has taken a leave of absence to care for her terminally ill twin, Rev. Amie’s church applied for her to receive this award.

Honoring a church that embodies and models MCC’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, the Excellence in Diversity Award is given to ICM Rio de Janeiro for their work in Brazil. 

Recognizing outstanding work for human rights including the connection of faith and human rights within and beyond MCC, the recipient of the Human RIghts Award is Rev. Toni Kruger-Ayebazibwe of the Global Interfaith Network, and MCC Clergy.

Named after a pioneering lay leader who also helped shape the pension plan the Kerry Brown Award for Distinguished Leadership is awarded to Chad Hobbs for all the many ways he serves, as well as being the current treasurer of the Governing Board.

The Ecumenical Award celebrates leadership across religions and the recipient of this award is Rev. Willams de Penha Silva for the seat on the Council for Interreligious Affairs at state level. 

To honor the spiritual development she is leading not only in her own church, but through mentoring others in Africa, the Rev. Elder Dr. Mona West Award is given to Rev. Elder Nokuthula Dhladhla this year. 

The Profiles of Courage Award is granted to a church and an individual - The church recipient is ICM Fortaleza in Brazil. Filled with the spirit, emboldened to serve the community, this church is recognized this year.

The individual recipient of the Profiles of Courage Award is Rev. Lauren Bennett, honoring her courageous work alongside death row inmates.

The Jennifer Justice and Carlos Chavez Young Adult Award is granted to a young adult who demonstrates MCC’s values and shows promise of future leadership - Liam Gabriel Losawyer is the recipient for this award.

A Special Recognition Award has been given to Rev. Terri Miller this year to honor her as a gifted and passionate preacher and activist, who is held in high esteem by her clergy colleagues. The work of Rev. Terri Miller was hailed by at least 12 of her peers for her courage, for her persistence and her superb efforts to pastor other pastors. 

Honoring long term lay delegates, the JoNee Shelton Lay Leadership Award is granted to Cheryl Stockton for her faithful service to both her local church in St. Louis USA as well as her leadership in the MAPUS network, and as a Partner in Hope.

The Network Award is given to a Network for excellent service to its local churches and while all Networks have been growing their web of support, this year’s award is given to Centro Sul Brasil Rede in Brazil.

Given to persons who have a passion for Evangelism, the Purple Grass Award (so named for a sermon preached by Rev. Elder Freda Smith) is given to Justin Ryan.

The Rev. Vickey Gibbs Award is given in honor of an individual who embodies and models MCC’s commitment to justice, diversity or children's ministry. This year's award goes to Rev. Terri Steed-Pierce of Joy MCC in Orlando Florida, who in the face of violence and hate, works for justice and shares God’s unconditional love.
