MCC Leader Calls for Unity to End Deadly Violence
“This is the time to act. We must search with urgency
to find an intersection in our differences
to unify and deescalate rhetoric that leads to violence.”
Rev. Elder Rachelle Brown, Interim Moderator, Metropolitan Community Churches
“We cannot be silent when our Jewish friends are gunned down at synagogue, or when Black men are murdered while shopping. We cannot give power to the hate that perpetuates paranoia and conspiracies about those who are different from ourselves,” said Rev. Elder Rachelle Brown, Interim Moderator, Metropolitan Community Churches.
“How many times will we weep and cry out from our pulpits that ‘love wins over hate’ before this senseless fury of violence stops,” said Rev. Elder Brown.
“We must unite as God’s people, across the divides of religion, ethnicity, culture, and politics to diffuse and eliminate this venom that sows hatred. This is the time to act. We must search with urgency to find an intersection in our differences to unify and deescalate rhetoric that leads to violence,” Rev. Elder Brown said.
“The victims, families, and first responders are all in our prayers. The grief is immense. Only God can heal our communities and our brokenness,” she said.
