Understanding the Intersectionality of Homelessness and Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Victims fleeing abusive relationships often face a heartbreaking dilemma: stay in an unsafe environment or become homeless. Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness.

Sheila is a 54-year-old female Army Veteran who lost her housing due to a domestic violence situation. With nowhere to go, Sheila was connected with MCCH and entered our Safe Haven shelter. While there, our trauma informed onsite team helped her achieve recovery goals and linked her to a supportive employment assistance team to help her return to the workforce.

By ensuring safe and stable housing and specialized services for survivors, we offer a lifeline for those seeking refugee. MCCH seeks to shelter survivors and empower them on their journey toward lasting independence. Together, we can break the cycle of violence and homelessness.

Vans for Veterans Campaign Launched!

Want to help end homelessness in your community?

Join the Vans for Veterans Campaign!

MCCH serves 55 Veterans each year at our Veteran's Safe Haven homes.

MCCH has relied on a van to help Veterans move from shelter into a home. They help Veterans achieve goals of health, employment, and independent living. Ready and reliable transport allows Veterans to reengage with community activities and helps them develop social connections again.

Now, after many years of use, the vans need replacement. Will you join the Vans for Veterans Campaign and help Veterans?

Meal Donors Bring Smiles Year Round

MCCH extends our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated community meal donors. This month's meal donor highlight goes to the Church of the Redeemer, for their unwavering support. Their generous contributions of two delicious meals a month not only bring much-needed nourishment to those in our shelter and those experiencing homelessness but also warm their hearts.
