The Board appointed Mayor Martin Jones, Town of Stedman, to serve as the region’s primary delegate to The Forum. Commissioner Arnold Page, Town of Salemburg, was appointed to serve as the alternate delegate. Commissioner Page has served as MCCOG’s primary delegate to The Forum for several years. We thank Mayor Jones and Commissioner Page for their service to the region.
The Forum, previously known as The Joint Regional Forum, is a unique body where municipal and county leaders convene to examine and discuss issues and policies and, in turn, seek regional solutions for local units of government and the State of NC. The body focuses on issues that can best be addressed on a regional or statewide basis and then champions regional solutions through collaboration, partnership, and consensus-building.
The Forum is made-up of one local elected official from each of NC’s 16 regional councils of governments and meets six times per year at various locations throughout NC. Our region is hosting the April meeting of The Forum. Please

Professional Services RFQ
|
Based on an analysis of the organization and input from local leaders, it is clear that a major challenge facing MCCOG is the lack of capacity to deliver services and provide technical assistance to the region’s local governments.
During its meeting, the Board of Directors authorized staff to release a request for qualifications (RFQ) for professional services on a “when-needed/as-needed" basis. This will allow the Council to begin meeting capacity challenges in the short-term while longer-term capacity building takes place. Please
EMAIL Justin Hembree
with questions about the RFQ or services MCCOG may be able to provide.
|
|
As part of the strategic goal to refresh and grow MCCOG, the Board approved moving forward with the comprehensive rebranding of the Council. On a related note, staff will work to create a temporary website that better meets the needs of the region and the organization. Please
EMAIL Justin Hembree
if you have questions or need additional information about the rebranding.
