Hello MCE Mustang families!

I'm excited to announce that the Maize BOE approved to bring back Pre-K through 5th grade students five days a week for in-person face-to-face learning beginning Monday, Jan. 4th.  We can't wait to have our students back in the building!  The BOE has also voted to extend Spring Break 2021 to a full five days, March 15 through March 19, 2021. 

Here are a few reminders as we prepare for the safe return to in-person learning.
Arrival and Dismissal information
  • Temperature checks will be conducted in accordance with any lawful state or local order. In the absence of an order, temperature checks will be conducted as determined necessary by the District Response Team. 
  • Parents will drop off and pick up students curbside. Doors will open at 8:30 am
  • Parents should not exit their vehicles during drop off or pick up.
 
 
  • Students who walk to school should arrive no earlier than 8:30 am
  • Students who walk home from school should leave campus immediately and not congregate in the hallways or parking lots.

MCE Bell Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 8:45 am-4:00 pm
Wednesday 8:45 am-3:23 pm (early dismissal)

Other Reminders
  • Lunch and treat deliveries will not be permitted.
  • MCE will have a drop off/pick up table positioned in our secure entryway for homework or any forgotten items that need to be picked up or delivered to a classroom.
  • Parents must complete a daily health assessment each morning before school. If your child is sick, please keep him/her at home.
  •  All children must wear a mask that covers the mouth and nose. If they do not have one available, a mask will be provided.
  • Visitors/Volunteers will not be allowed in the building at this time.
  • Water fountains have been turned off in the building with the exception of fill stations. Please send a water bottle with your child daily.

CARING HEARTS FOOD DRIVE
Our Caring Hearts Food Drive was a great success. We were able to fill 24 boxes of food! We also had plenty of extra food that will be used to fill the blessing box in front of Moxi and help fill the food pantry at Maize Complete High School. Your generosity will help so many Maize families. Thank you!
PTO EVENT
Our MCE PTO will be having a week-long fundraiser at Charlie’s Car Wash December 13th through December 19th. It’s a great time to get your car washed, or even to buy gift certificates for Christmas! ATTENDANCE
If your child(ren) will be absent from, please notify your child's teacher via email and the office at acbaker@usd266.com so the absence can be excused. Another option is to call the attendance line and leave a message 316-722-0427. The absence will be marked as unexcused if the office/teacher is not notified. Thank you
BOX TOPS
No More Clipping! Just Scan Your Receipt!
Don't like to clip? There's a new way you can support our school with Box Tops for Education. Simply download the Box Tops for Education app, choose Maize Central Elementary School in the setup, and then just scan your receipt every time you grocery shop. MOVING?

If you have moved or will be moving, but are still in district, please send a Proof of Residency to the school office as soon as possible. You can email it to kmarshall@usd266.com or fax it to the school office at 316-722-8307.
  •  An Acceptable Proof of Residence includes a copy of your mortgage/lease agreement, including signature page, or a current copy of your gas, water or electric bill.
  • If you have any questions regarding Proof of Residence, please feel free to contact the school office.
If you are moving OUT of district, please contact Katelyn Marshall at kmarshall@usd266.com or by phone at 316-722-0427. Please include the new school, city, and state you will be transferring to so we can prepare your student's records for transfer. 
EARLY CHECK OUT PROCEDURE
Parents/guardians need to come to the front office to sign their student out on the sign-out sheet in the office entryway, then the office staff will call the student to the office.
 
Parents can notify the teacher in advance via email to let them know that they will be leaving early, but students will not be called to the office before the parent/guardian arrives to the school to pick them up.

SKYWARD HEALTH INFORMATION

It is the responsibility of the parent to update medical information and contact numbers in Skyward Family Access during enrollment and throughout the school year. Teachers, coaches and other school staff rely on Skyward for important health information like asthma, seizures, diabetes, and food allergies. In addition to updating Skyward, the parent/guardian must also personally communicate this information to the school nurse who will educate and train the appropriate staff. If parents and/or student have questions regarding school guidelines and policies in keeping students safe and healthy at school, please contact the school nurse.

GIVING YOUR
CHILD MEDICATION AT SCHOOL 
  • Complete a request for Administration of Medication form.  
  • The medication must be in the original container.
  • The medication must be current. Expired medication will not be administered.
  • The medication must be age appropriate. Any medication for a person older than the child will require a signed form from the doctor.
  • All prescription medications require a signed form from the doctor.
  • All prescription medications must have the pharmacy label with the student's name on the bottle/box.
  • Students may not self-administer medications in the elementary schools.
