Are you Seeking a Funded Research Project?

A team of faculty from CU Boulder and the University of Washington has been granted a 3-year award through the NSF to study the formation of cultures of ethical community engagement in university-based engineering-for-development (EfD) programs. If you're interested in this project, please contact Shawhin directly ( or at 510-928-8846)  Applicants are required to be in high academic standing, with a minimum 3.5 GPA, and ideally, affiliated with MCEDC. You will be asked to submit a CV, provide two professional or academic references, and a 500- to 700-word statement of interest.   Read more about the   project and application requirements .  
Practicum Presentations & Community Celebration

Please mark your calendars and join us for presentations by seven students who completed their EDC field practicums this summer.  This event will allow our students to discuss their experiences of working with host agencies, share what they learned, and answer audience questions.  A reception will be held in the lobby of the DLC following the presentations. This event is open to the public.

The EDC Student Group Now Has Its Own Calendar!

Our EDC Calendar has been created!  It is publicly available, and you can add it to your calendar by copying the following iCal link and pasting it into your calendar software:   Add this to your calendar software

Most calendar programs, including Google Calendar, will understand the iCal format and automatically update it when you are connected to the Internet.
If you are using Google Calendar, click on the downward-facing arrow in a box to the right of "Other Calendars" on the left side of the screen.  Then, click "Add by URL", paste in the link above, and voila!  The "EDC Events" calendar should show up under your "Other Calendars".

Policy Graduate Fellowship Program

The Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program is a full-time hands-on training and educational program that provides early career individuals with the opportunity to spend 12 weeks (January 17 to April 7, 2017) at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC learning about science and technology policy and the role that scientists and engineers play in advising the nation. This Mirzayan Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to obtain the essential skills and knowledge needed to work in science policy at the federal, state, or local levels. 
Rotary District 5450 Scholarships
