MCGSO Organizes BrainSTEM Week For Local Middle Schoolers
Members of the Medical Center Graduate Student Organization (MCGSO) virtually shared their passion for science with students from Hardy Middle School in Washington during BrainSTEM Week.
During her NHS course on health policy and advocacy, Juliette Carr (G’21) crafted a final project around food equity and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) benefits, which has been developed into a bill in Vermont’s legislature.
The American Association for Cancer Research selected Raquel Santana da Cruz, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow in Sonia de Assis’s lab, as a recipient of its Minority Scholar in Cancer Research Award, which provides funds for the participation of early-career, meritorious minority scientists in the AACR Annual Meeting. Kicking off National Nurses Week on May 6, NHS will share a virtual conversation with Rep. Lauren Underwood, RN, (D-IL) and Georgetown nursing leadership. Submit a question for the virtual conversation here by April 28 at 5:00 p.m.
The GUMC Subcommittee on Faculty Diversity & Inclusion seeks short personal essays, poems, artwork or short videos that capture learner reflections that will enlighten the faculty from current learners at GUMC and residents or fellows of MedStar Health. Submissions should focus on what these groups wished faculty members knew before they began teaching in order to better enhance the learning process. Submissions of 100-500 words are due by April 30. The MedStar Health - Georgetown University Research Symposium and Colloquium for Educators in the Health Professions are open to all members of the research and education community interested in learning more about scholarship at Georgetown and MedStar.
