Abortion is health care. We have heard the stories, held the hands virtually and literally, and helped women and pregnant people for more than 26 years with their both their personal decision-making and logistical issues for both high-risk pregnancy care and abortions - sites, insurance, transport, and more.
As you likely know by now, today the Supreme Court issued their decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion in America. We are angered and saddened at the waste of human capital, time, and resources, health, and ultimately - lives - that this decision puts into play. We are health advocates, and we know that low-income people, people of color and people in states other than California will be hurt the most. Many of us are concerned at what other rights will be affected by this decision and how far it will go.
