Do your neighbors have questions around SNAP or other wrap around services?
The SNAP team at MANNA has a host of outreach materials, which can be used to connect neighbors to the MANNA Helpline. Through the HelpLine, neighbors can get assistance with completing a SNAP application, help with recertifying their application, and find information about wrap around services in their area.
Our Helpline materials are a great resource to distribute to neighbors, especially during their first intake at your pantry. Here are a few best practices for distributing Helpline materials during the intake process:
1) Keep a stack of materials on hand in or around your intake space.
2) Complete intake as normal.
3) For new neighbors: If a neighbor responds "No" or "Don't know" on the SNAP question, provide them with a Helpline card and let them know how MANNA can help.
4) For returning neighbors: Pick a distribution where instead of asking the general "Has any of your information changed?," ask about the neighbor's SNAP status specifically. If they have lost SNAP benefits or do not already have them, provide a Helpline card.
