Earlier this month, the MCI team participated in a TEFAP webinar that all of our TEFAP agencies were invited to. If you missed that event or the MCI section, here is a quick recap on current best practices and guidelines.
TEFAP training webinar video can be found here: MANNA TEFAP Webinar
MCI TEFAP Best Practices:
- Always search for neighbor's name before adding a new household.
- When doing intake, always select Food Pantry + TEFAP for all TEFAP visits.
- Add state, zip, and county to every household.
- Look for *required fields & orange buttons to continue move onto next page.
- Check with the neighbor every time if any information has changed.
Eligibility Guidelines:
- Whoever is doing TEFAP intake must confirm income eligibility every time.
- If a neighbor qualifies for SNAP, they do not need to share income details.
- If a neighbor does not qualify for SNAP, they are required to verify their eligibility by informing the intake volunteer of income amount. In these instances it is recommended to ask the monthly amount.
- Always double check the "Program Eligibility" section.
- Do not leave income amount blank. If a neighbor is making $0, please put that in the required fields.
Proxy Guidelines:
- If proxy picks up, their name will need to be selected for the verbal signature section.
- Mark all proxies to expire on the date of 9/30, as every TEFAP cycle starts October 1st.
Please note, that there is currently only one approved TEFAP form: Intake TEFAP form
If you are working on a separate form or sheet before entering it into MCI, please get it approved by emailing: vchilds@mannafoodbank.org
We have not yet received the 2026-2027 income guidelines from the state. Once received, these will automictically be updated in MCI, and we upload the 2026-2027 TEFAP forms to the Agency Resource website.
Our team is here to support you and your agency. Please let us know if you have any TEFAP related questions!
