Easter is upon us and a new season is coming soon.
We are making temporary but, necessary repairs to the wall in preparation for the summer boating season. We are in the first stage of the plan to replace the Seawall. We are surveying the property which once complete will go to our Engineer for the second stage of a wall configuration. These two operations should take a couple of months weather permitting.
Our entertainment crew is lining up venues for the rest of the year which we hope will be more profitable than last year.
The yearly Meat Raffle is this month with great expectations.
The summer Bash is starting to take shape and we’re hoping and praying the weather will be in our favor this year.
This year our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament will be on June 16th at Holden Hills CC. We are starting to advertise for this event and hope to get a better turnout. We will be asking for our members to spread the word and hopefully get some help to solicit for raffle items. Last year we got some good items. Herb Chambers of Auburn is putting up a new Toyota for the Hole in One contest.
The State Convention is coming up June 8th thru June 11th and you haven’t made reservations, the hotel fills fast. We hope to have a better showing this year than the previous ones.

Millions more vets to be able to shop at exchanges online
Honorably discharged veterans could be able to shop online at military exchange websites as early as Veterans Day, barring any objections from Congress.
The change in Defense Department policy would open up online exchange shopping privileges to about 18 million more people. It won’t apply to shopping at brick-and-mortar exchange stores.

On April 7, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt took the first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer, in the United States, as long as it remained below 4.0% alcohol by volume (ABV). Beer drinkers celebrated and were happy to be able to purchase beer again for the first time in thirteen years.

Scholarship Purpose, Eligibility, Requirements
- Purpose: To grant scholarships to qualified applicants who are pursuing full time undergraduate or technical training at a recognized institution.
- Eligible Sponsors;
A. Members in good standing of Marine Corps league Worcester Detachment 144.
B. Sponsors must be active and attend a minimum of four monthly meetings of the Worcester Detachment 144 in scholarship award year.
- Eligible Recipients;
A .Member, spouses, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the sponsor.
B. The sponsor’s stepchildren are also eligible.
- Requirements:
A. Applications will only be dispensed to sponsors attending a Worcester Detachment 144 meeting.
B. Completed applications must be returned by September 1st. C. If selected you must provide proof of enrollment (Verification Form) From you or your school and returned by November 15th.
5. Awards;
A. $200 annually for a maximum of four years.
B. Years need not be consecutive years.
C. Checks are usually mailed in med December.
