The Summer Bash 17 went off very well this year. The weather cooperated and gave us a sunny and hot day for the event. We had 8 fabulous bands, of which the last playing group brought in a lot of followers. We had two [2] feedings during the day and just about cleared out all our food. The raffles, fifty/fifty, and wall donations went also well. For those who gave their time and endless effort to the operation of the event I am giving a big OOORAH. A special thanks to Gina LaConte for the lineup of bands, and Dave Ciolifi for taking a endless amount of pictures so that we can promote our event to the public.
The following weekend we had ERUPTION a Van Halen band perform and they exploded. They brought a big following for a Sunday group which caught us a little off guard, but we met the challenge with everyone pitching in. We sold food which we had from the bash and added some for variety which worked well. The bar staff met the challenge and kept everyone happy. We must have had fans there from the Bash in the parking lot because they all parked the same way as the bash with no room to spare. Also, the marina was jammed with the lake people which added to the atmosphere, “what a day”.
I’m hoping the rest of the summer season goes just as well for us for we need the business to support the operation of the club. On a different note, September 9, 2017 will be a Pound 64 Devil Dog Growl. All dogs are requested to attend and if a Marine member has an anniversary date of September and would like to be a Dog please see Chris Manos to fill out the application. A Marine with a minimum of one [1] year can join the Dogs.
Some People Spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made difference. The MARINES don’t have that problem.

Want the Job Done Right?
Hire a Marine
President Trump needing a steady hand, to bring civility, order and respect to his Cabinet, hired retired Marine Corps General John F. Kelly.

John F. Kelly, new White House chief of staff, hailed as 'star of the administration'
Gen. John F. Kelly, the retired four-star Marine general sworn in Monday as White House chief of staff, has new orders from the commander-in-chief: Instill discipline in a White House plagued by leaks and infighting.
Kelly, an Irish Catholic, had a brief stint as secretary of Homeland Security. Before he headed DHS, he had recently ended a long and distinguished career in the military.
Last February, he retired after serving four decades in the Marines. His last post was as head of the U.S. Southern Command, which oversees Latin America and the Caribbean.
"I have been fortunate to have served my country for more than 45 years - first as a Marine and then as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security," Kelly said in a statement Friday. "I am honored to be asked to serve as the chief of staff to the president of the United States."
In a tweet late Friday, Trump tweeted that Kelly "has been a true star of my administration."
“He is a great American and a great leader,” Trump said.

Millions more vets to be able to shop at exchanges online
Honorably discharged veterans could be able to shop online at military exchange websites as early as Veterans Day, barring any objections from Congress.
The change in Defense Department policy would open up online exchange shopping privileges to about 18 million more people. It won’t apply to shopping at brick-and-mortar exchange stores.
