The digital version of  Salute , the official event program of “The People’s Marathon,” is now available. The 64-page book includes helpful insights including MCM technology, inspiring runner profiles, start/finish details and more. Every runner will receive a keepsake copy of the program at Packet Pick-up. 
The 2018 MCM App is available now to download or update. Use the app for easy access to all essential event day info including maps, runner tracking, social media and live results. Available for iOS and Android , of course. 



Easiest way to travel to the Health & Fitness Expo presented by Cigna is to take free shuttles from Eisenhower (yellow) or Van Dorn (blue) Metro stations. If driving, runners may park at National Harbor or the Gaylord National Resort. Get an $8 discount on parking at the Gaylord lot with validation that’s available at the Expo entrance.
All registered runners received the MCM eCard by email earlier this month. Presenting the eCard at Packet Pick-up is essential to obtain the official participant bib, shirt and other runner items. Packet Pick-up is hosted within the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Gaylord National Resort. There is no event day packet pick-up.
Stroll through an amazing variety of vendors and exhibitors at the MCM Health & Fitness Expo presented by Cigna . Feature stops include the MCM Brooks Store ; product partners including Flags of Valor , commemorative MCM plaques , MCM medal display racks , military and MCM-themed ties and MCM Buffs . Other amazing installations include the Cigna Health Improvement Tour; Wegmans Launch Zone; Hyundai Sign-the-Pace Car; Leidos vintage ice cream truck; and booths hosted by MedStar Sports Medicine , Navy Federal Credit Union , GEICO and USAA .  
Limited spots remain available in the MCM Kids Run presented by VA529 . The one mile fun run happens on Saturday, Oct 27 at the Pentagon North Parking Lot in Arlington. The MCM10K and MCM are both sold out. Deferment and transfer programs are both closed.


The MCM opening ceremonies begin at 7:25 a.m. The spectacular skydive presented by Leidos happens during the National Anthem at 7:33 a.m. The wheelchair and hand cycle athletes start at 7:45 a.m. and the MCM launches at 7:55 a.m. On the other side of the Potomac River in the nation’s capital, the MCM10K will also start at 7:55 a.m.
All runners are required to enter the Expo and start lines through safety screening points. On event day, screening points will open at Runners Village and the MCM10K at 4:30 a.m. Runners must use the clear plastic drawstring bag for UPS Drop-off. A peel-off sticker from the back of the bib indicates the assigned UPS truck. Firearms, drones and other items determined to be potential safety hazards are prohibited. All bags are subject to search. Pay attention to safety signs regarding prohibited items. Remember if you see something, say something.
The MCM is opening Metro early on Sunday, Oct. 28 to support runner arrivals at the MCM and MCM10K start lines. Metro service begins at 6 a.m. on event morning. Use the  Pentagon Station  (blue/yellow) to access the Runners Village for the MCM. For those participating in the MCM10K , the most convenient stop is Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter (green/yellow). The Finish Festival is accessible by the Rosslyn station (blue/orange/silver). Metro SmarTrip cards will be available for purchase at the Expo.

Free parking is available at 23rd and Crystal Drive in Crystal City on MCM Day for Marathon participants. Shuttles will run from this location to Runners Village before the MCM and then between Crystal City and the Finish Festival the remainder of the day. Shuttles will run from Gaylord National to Runners Village until 6 a.m. and then between Eisenhower Metro station and Gaylord the remainder of the day. There are no shuttles for the MCM10K.  
NBC Sports Washington  hosts live 90 minutes of live coverage from the MCM start beginning at 7 a.m. Special guests include Kathrine Switzer and General Robert B. Neller, the 37th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. If friends and family aren't going to be cheering from the sidelines, encourage them to watch from home by tuning into NBC Sports Washington on event morning.


After crossing the finish, runners will meet the Marines to receive the coveted, award winning MCM finisher medal. (Don’t ask. You won’t see it until the finish line). Runners then proceed to hospitality for  Fyffes bananas Wegmans  bottled water,  Gatorade Dole fruit bowls , and the MCM recovery jacket. Remember to recycle and compost. The  Finish Festival in Rosslyn features live music, food samples, info tent, family link-up, Mic Ultra Beer Garden and UPS Baggage Pick-up . Other attractions include watermelon slices from National Watermelon Promotion Board ; bacon from Brooks ; the Cigna Health Improvement Tour ; and the MCM Brooks Finisher Store. For runners who participated in the Bib Mail-Out program, shirts may be picked up in the Finish Festival Info Tent.

To depart after the MCM, runners may use Metro from Rosslyn (blue/orange/silver) or take free shuttles to Crystal City from the corner of Oak Street and Wilson Boulevard in the Finish Festival. For those wishing to return to the Gaylord, shuttles will be provided from the Eisenhower Metro station.
Digital mapping makes it possible to see a runner or runners progressing along the MCM course on event day and for review after the run. Take advantage of MCM Map Track hosted by Garmin for visual representation of one or multiple runners represented by an icon moving along the course map. 
An essential tool for spectators and a great way for supporters from afar to track the progress of a favorite runner. Follow one or more runners in real time and receive updates by tent or email with MCM Track a Runner . Sign up to receive notifications during the MCM.  
Motigo app will play MCM-specific motivational and informational messages along the MCM course. Runners can also invite friends and family to record personal cheers then receive them in their earbuds while running the MCM. Download the app and spread the word.  
MCM Brooks apparel is on sale now at running specialty stores, Pacers and Potomac River Running . The entire line will be on display at the Health & Fitness Expo and finisher gear will be available for purchase online or in the Finish Festival. Runners are encouraged to get to the Expo early for the best selection of Brooks MCM merchandise. Certain styles and sizes will sell out at the Expo. Also, new for this year, leftover product from the Expo will not be available online until January 2019.
Visit before the run or encourage the support team to view "The People's Marathon" from 31 stories up at the new Observation Deck in Rosslyn. Special discount available for MCM runner parties to experience the area’s newest attraction before the event or to attend an inclusive food and drinks brunch from 7 am to 1 pm. on event day. Amazing, previously impossible views of the MCM skydive, start and finish lines and many sections of the course.
