PRINCIPAL PIC OF THE WEEK
|
|
The "Build Your Behavior Teacher Toolkit" sessions were hosted by Mrs. Karr, Remedial Education Program teacher/Student Support Team Coordinator, and Mrs. Mitchell, current TOTY and In-School Coordinator for Special Education. Both teachers are members of the school PBIS Team as well. These sessions were voluntary drop-in sessions during teachers' planning periods. The purpose was to create a conversation around classroom management, how to handle difficult situations, and using tier 1 strategies to support student success both academically and behaviorally. Over 40 teachers attended, and the sessions were full of strategies for attention-seeking behaviors, student motivation, and building relationships. The main takeaway of the day: student behavior is NOT the problem; it is a symptom of the underlying issue. Once you get to the root of the problem, you'll be able to intervene successfully.

MCMS Student Book Review
Rachel Sosebee recommends
Conspiracy 365 (series)
by Gabrielle Lord
Eighth grader, Rachel Sosebee, recommends this realistic fiction book because it has a lot of action and suspense in it. She says, "It leaves you wanting to read more, so it will keep everybody interested. Most of the books end with a dramatic action that remains unfinished so to complete it, you would have to read the next book."
Rachel gives this book a 5 out of 5!

This includes Interest Profiles, Career Aptitudes, and an introduction to Career Clusters and future career opportunities. During the months of December and January, the counselors will be scheduling time for students who were absent or were unable to finish to complete these assessments in a small group or individually. "School vacation projects can be done anytime and anywhere, therefore parents' involvement in their child’s out of school learning is crucial to the child’s success. It is important to remember that parents are their child’s #1 educator."
