Everyone fortunate enough to attend MP's production of Les Miserables was absolutely blown away by the professionalism, skill, & talent displayed by all the actors. We were particularly impressed with the cast members -
Kennedy Hebert, Addison Holloway, Brett Little, & Sam Nickel -
who are MCMS students! It was a lot of extra work plus 4 shows, but a huge honor for them, & we are so proud!

MCMS Student Book Review
Kady Mac Moon
recommends
The Summer I
Turned Pretty
by Jenny Han
7th grader, Kady Mac Moon, recommends this realistic fictional novel to her peers because she loves the twists & turns the book takes and thinks "it's the perfect story of self discovery along with lifelong friendship." She says that the emotion shown, whether happy or sad, is "highlighted in an amazing way! It captures all the feeling you get with a first love and the perfect summer! If you are looking for a book to read in the summer, this is a must!!"
Kady Mac gives this book a 5 out of 5!

New 2023-2024 Bell Schedule for Monroe County Middle School
April 13, 2023 - Beginning in August 2023, Monroe County Middle School students will have new arrival and dismissal times. Classes at the middle school will begin at 8 a.m. Dismissal will take place at 3 p.m. This change will help alleviate bus traffic congestion and allow more space for future growth.
Transportation Director Jake Davis says, “We have run out of space to safely add additional buses to our loading areas at Monroe County Middle School and Mary Persons High School. As we continue to anticipate the need for growth, we have to address that now.”
Aligning the times at MPHS and MCMS will also allow Monroe County Schools to station buses simultaneously at both schools, allowing them to begin their routes sooner, while also accommodating the large number of student athletes needed to transfer from one campus to the other.
More information about the change will be released as we get closer to the start of the school year.

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
It has come to our attention that there is some confusion about the requirements needed to document student absences at MCMS. Please be aware of the following excerpts from our MCMS Student Handbook-School Attendance Policy:
“Upon returning after an absence, a student should bring a note from the parent or doctor.”
“Students who desire to document an absence shall present a written excuse signed by a parent or guardian within three (3) school days of returning to school. Documentation may not be sent by Fax, email, or telephone."

"The end of the school year is approaching, and students cannot wait until summer vacation...However, parents want to make sure their children don’t forget everything they learned over the school year once their brains turn off school mode and turn on their summer vacation mode."
-
Camps - Many kids are active in various camps over the summer. Communities all over are beginning to create programs for children to participate in as well as include families for the important engagement that is needed for success. Schools are providing after school summer programs with certain enrichments allowing kids to stay engaged over the summer months. Families can be proactive increasing their children’s skills for the upcoming school year.
