Monroe County Schools is announcing the following schedule adjustments for the rest of the week. All after-school activities on Thursday, September 26 have been canceled, including the MPHS Homecoming Parade. Monroe County Schools will be closed to all students and staff on Friday, September 27, 2024. We will assess the situation following the storm and make a decision regarding the Homecoming football game scheduled for 7:30 pm Friday night.  


Monroe County is under a Hurricane Warning and a Flood Watch. The National Weather Service says our biggest threat is heavy rain with possible flooding, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes.

Teachers who are seen going above and beyond with PBIS are given a WooHoo ticket by a member of the school PBIS team, and then they are visited by the WooHoo Wagon on a Friday. They get to pick a snack & drink and also get to spin the Prize Wheel for a larger prize. 


Prizes on the wheel include Starbucks GC, CFA GC, Mystery GC, Jeans Pass, Duty Free Lunch, Free Period, Big Peach Carwash certificate. T-Shirt.


Congrats to our most recent winners!

Many of our staff and students banded together last week to give hope to children in our community as they battle cancer. We gave $1, and we wore hats in an effort to raise awareness and funds to help the cause. Thank you to all who participated and supported this worthwhile effort which has benefited so many in our area, even some among us in MCS.

Congratulations to our 6th graders who won the

pbis fundraiser - grade level chain challenge - sept 3-19

Bringing in $583, the 6th grade will be rewarded with the Momentum Ice Cream Truck. Overall, PBIS raised $900 through this challenge which will be used for further rewards and incentives for good behavior. Thanks to all who participated and supported the fun!

Thank you to our Parent Committee and the 8th grade parents who provided a fabulous Tailgate Lunch for staff this week. The food was delicious and so very appreciated by all!

MCMS students gathered for See You at the Pole on September 25 in observance of this national event. See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event. The event at our school was sponsored by FCA and led by the FCA student leaders, and donuts were provided by New Providence Baptist Church. Thank you to all who joined in and supported the effort.

After learning all about chemical and physical changes, students in Mrs. Blalock, Mrs. Dunn, and Ms. Flotlin's science classes made smoothies to show how physical changes occur to make a liquid out of solids and made pancakes to show how adding heat to pancake batter causes a chemical change!

Our College and Career Tour is designed to take middle schoolers on college trips to expose them to future opportunities and career pathways in a real world setting. These field trips provide information to students about dual enrollment opportunities that they will be eligible for in high school as well as provide information about jobs and degrees that they might have never known about and might be interested in pursuing for the future. Watch for info about the next one scheduled if your student would be interested!

october 4 fall festival - 20 dollars per student beginning   Monday september 16

Our annual MCMS Fall Festival is Friday, October 4, and is $20/ student. Tickets go on sale next week, and the cost of a ticket includes a slice of pizza, a drink, & chips as well as access to all the fun! Participating students will receive a wristband on the day of the event, and those students will enjoy activities such as inflatables, a DJ party room, outside games, face painting & tattoos, a movie room, & Bulldog Bazaar concessions for $1. Don't miss out!

MCMS FFA members Chip Barfield, Logan Bertram, Hunter Dickerson, and Daphnie Miller traveled to Camp John Hope to compete in the Area Land Judging Competition. They placed 3rd in a very rigorous competition! Please congratulate this team for their outstanding accomplishment!

Students from MCMS traveled to Camp John Hope in Fort Valley to participate in the Discovery Conference hosted by the Georgia FFA Association. Students participated in exploration type workshops about different parts of the FFA organization. Students also planned and talked about their goals for FFA and how to get involved.

The 4th Annual Monroe County Lamb Show will be held Sunday October 13th at the Monroe County Schools Livestock facility. This livestock show will showcase all the lambs in the Monroe County area that have been shown throughout the summer and fall seasons. During this show we will also have an administration showdown, and a peewee show!
