JUST THIS WEEK:

148 Families - 483 People Served

161 Homeless Bags - 23 School Bags

Each month, Van Meter Inc., a wholesale electrical company here in Cedar Rapids, sends us a few of their finest employees to volunteer in our food pantry.

This month, Melissa, Gavin, Emily, and Jay worked hard here for two hours, sorting and shelving donations. They finished up bagging onions and potatoes into easy packets for distribution to our clients in the food boxes.

Coming up from the pantry, they posed for a snapshot before they left. The co-workers were pretty sure they reeked of onions by then, but they appear fresh as daisies in this photo.

Men of Action

The Tuesday night men's group from St. Jude donated two huge boxes of Firehouse Subs on Wednesday. Alan and Tom delivered the delicious sandwiches to our office Wednesday morning. MCO Board of Directors member Cindy Day was thrilled to receive the food.

What a treat this week to add these to the food bags we distribute to our clients who live outside. The nutritious subs were very well received by our homeless friends!

St. Joseph Preschool

These Marion cuties celebrated a Day of Giving this month by bringing food pantry items to preschool. In exchange, they got to wear their pajamas to school AND were treated with ice pops. Thanks, kids, for learning at this very young age how to help others in need!
