Hawks vs. Cyclones
Everyone is a Winner!
Many of our parishes combined competitive food drives with the Iowa - Iowa State rivalry football game last weekend. Thanks to all who donated and those who worked so hard to pack up and deliver all the donations for local families in need!

New Tuesday Evening Pantry Shift
In September, we started a fun Tuesday evening pantry shift from 4:45pm-6:15pm for volunteers who haven't been able to come during the day. This was the second week, and we were able to get this team to hold still for a moment to pose for the camera.
Pictured is this week's evening crew: Zach, Mark, Joe, Nico, and Charleen. Joe was helping out a his son Nico, from Boy Scout Troop 68.
This crew Tuesday night shopped for, packed, and assembled 56 food boxes that were distributed this week.
We have several openings coming up for this new shift. If your daytime schedule doesn't allow you to volunteer during the work week, this is the shift for you! Sign up for once or twice a month, or just try it out and see what you think. Let our Volunteer Coordinator Chelsea know if you are interested. Her contact info is at the bottom of each newsletter.

Monday is Garden
Drop-Off Day
Pat, a St. John XXlll parishioner, and Jean, one of our volunteers from St. Joseph, brought in tomatoes Monday. Our clients will be thrilled to get these fresh beauties in their food boxes this week!
Every Monday from 1:00pm - 2:00pm, we have volunteers waiting at our dock to receive any garden bounty you would like to bring us. Getting it all fresh on Mondays allows us to sort and package your nutritious home-grown fare for distribution to our neighbors in need on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
No need to call first if you are coming, just show up between 1:00 and 2:00, now through September 28.
Thanks for keeping our volunteers busy on
Monday afternoons!

500 Pounds 0f Oatmeal
A fundraiser conducted by the generous team from QTS Data Center resulted in hundreds of pounds of donated oatmeal landing in our pantry this week.
Thanks to Quaker, who donated the oat products to Definitely Dogs, a group raising money for service dogs for veterans with PTSD. The impressive amount of oatmeal leftover was generously brought in to our food pantry this week.
Pictured are Dean, Colton, Nathan, and Blake, employees at QTS who organized the fundraiser. These men transported and unloaded all the oatmeal right to our dock Wednesday.
