I hope the beginning of this new school year finds everyone doing well and excited about all that 2023-24 has to offer. Be sure to take care of yourself, especially during this warm weather and do something that fills your emotional bucket. We look forward to coming together to support teacher induction mentors and candidates.

Mentors be sure to sign up for one of the Welcome Back / Orientation meetings that begin at the end of this month. It is also important for any new candidates and mentors to register for one of the Kick-Off meetings in September, all are welcome but only candidates new to MCOE Teacher Induction and their mentors are required.

Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) Update
Senate Bill 114
Senate Bill 114 (Chap. 48, Stats 2023) signed by the Governor on July 10, 2023, exempts
candidates who received this flexibility during the COVID-19 pandemic from the teaching
performance assessment. Any candidate who received a preliminary credential with a renewal code requiring completion of the TPA will no longer need to complete the TPA as long as they have met one of the following requirements:
  1. Completed a Commission-approved teacher induction program on or before June 30, 2025, and/or
  2. Demonstrated two years of service with satisfactory teacher evaluations by June 30, 2025

RICA is still required, support is available free of charge during enrollment in teacher induction.
RICA Support begins in September - Register through your online portal under training.
Please email your RICA results directly to our program coordinator.

Mentors
  • Register for a Welcome/Orientation
  • Register for a Kick Off with your Candidate new to MCOE TIP

Candidates
  • New to MCOE Induction please register for a Kick Off with your mentor
  • Continuing in TIP you are welcome to attend a Kick Off but not required
  • Candidate Portal

New to MCOE TIP you will receive a welcome letter and log in information for the Portal

Registration for events and professional learning found in your Portal under Training

  • Keep track of any time you spend with your mentor or in professional development
  • Triad and Observation #1 should be completed no later than October 6th.
  • Continue with support logs
  • Triad and Observation #1 should be completed no later than October 6th.
Spring Cohort
Mentors
  • Register for a Welcome/Orientation
  • You and your candidate are welcome to attend a Kick Off but not required
  • Register with your candidate for a Check In Meeting - Nov/Dec

Early Completion Option

If you are considering applying for the Early Completion Option (ECO) please be sure to schedule an ECO mandatory meeting with the TIP Coordinator. To find out more about the Early Completion Option and schedule a meeting please visit the TIP webpage.

Professional Learning
All of the workshops offered by the MCOE Teacher Induction Program are offered at no cost to Candidates and Mentors in our program. Units are available at an additional cost. If you are not able to attend a meeting that you signed up for, be sure to notify us of your cancelation.
Classroom Organization and Management (COMP)
A proactive training designed to help teachers better manage classrooms. This training has shown an increase in student engagement and academic achievement.

The next series of COMP workshops will be held in person and begin September 9th.
The opportunity to earn 3 units of college credit. Be sure to sign up early space is limited. Register Here

We will also be hosting a spring series, additional dates and information are found on the COMP information flyer. You can register for either session in your portal.


During this workshop, participants will review the psychology behind procrastination, stress,
and anxiety. Teachers will attain strategies that can help them run an organized classroom.
The opportunity to earn 1 unit of college credit.


Explore the creation of learning environments where the needs of the whole child are incorporated for increased student access and learning.

Cult of Pedagogy does it again with this oldie but goodie about our job as coaches. Mentors aren't exactly the same as instructions coaches but I think the work is similar enough to make this a good read or listen.
