Chapel Recap
Mr. Pax stepped out from behind the sound booth this week to share a message of encouragement with our students. He spoke of a time that he felt desperate, hopeless, and unseen by God. He got to the point of asking God, "Don't you even care that I'm going through this pain?" He related that time in his life to what the disciples were feeling in Mark 4:35-41, when they got caught in an intense storm in the Sea of Galilee. The disciples thought they were going to die in that storm, meanwhile Jesus was sleeping through it, fully at peace. When the disciples awakened Jesus, He didn't understand their panic. He commanded the wind to be still, which immediately brought the storm to a full stop. THIS is the God we serve! He sees the future and knows the important plans He has in store for us, and He stays calm when it seems like chaos is abounding.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, He will bring us through the storms we are facing right now. In Him is where our hope and future lie!
Christmas Dodgeball Tournament
The Annual Christmas Dodgeball Tournament took place this week, and Homeroom Pride was on the line! There were many intense battles including diving saves, jailbreaks, tie-breakers! Congratulations to the following Homerooms who took the Dodgeball Championship Trophy back to their homeroom for this year:

6th Grade - Ms. Green's Homeroom
7th Grade - Mrs. Liu's Homeroom
8th Grade - Mr. Spurgin's Homeroom

Middle School Door Decorating
The theme for this year's Annual Middle School Christmas Door Decorating Contest is Christmas Songs!  Each homeroom drew a song and then brought that song's theme to life on their door.  The judging criteria is 2-fold: 1) Best representation of the song on the door, and 2) most creative use of items on the door.  The hallways are looking very festive, and the winners will be announced Friday morning before we leave for Christmas Break.  Check our Instagram page @mcs_middleschool_lyfe to see which homerooms are crowned victorious!
HSPT Private School Entrance Exam Review Sessions
We are offering four review sessions to help our MCS students prepare for private school entrance exams, specifically the High School Placement Test (HSPT) and the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Math and English will be reviewed in each session. All four sessions will be different, so we recommend you attend all four. Students are encouraged to purchase the HSPT or ISEE test books available at Barnes and Nobel or online. Any version of the HSPT or ISEE test book is fine. Please have your child bring the book to each session.

Students may attend any or all of the following sessions:

Wednesday, January 9th (3:00-4:30pm)

Location: Meet in Mrs. Thurston's room at the start of each session

The sessions are long, but are designed to allow review of both Math and English. We will also provide a short snack break. These sessions should provide a good stretching of our students' "test endurance." Generally, entrance exam testing periods are three to fours hours in length. Most middle school students are not used to sitting and testing for so long!

All four sessions are included in the $40 fee. Your FACTS account will be billed after the first session you attend.

Please RSVP to [email protected] if your child will be attending any sessions.

***Please let us know if you'd like to donate snack items for these review sessions. It would be much appreciated by the hungry students.
