It is hard to believe that Morgan has not yet received this award because Morgan is everyone's hero every week! Morgan is kind, dedicated and hard working. Morgan is passionate about science and about finding ways to help students develop their own love for science! Morgan deeply cares for her students and always has their best interests at heart - working hours after school and on weekends to make sure that she always gives her best. Morgan is the kind of teacher that any school would be delighted to have. We are blessed to have Morgan at MCS!

Despite the size of her small class, she keeps students on the run
Dealing with those 6th graders! A wild and motley crew,
Making it look easy, each day feeling fresh and new.
Labs and projects, small and large, her kids are always engaged,
She does it all with flare and grace, her colleagues are just amazed.
Tucked away from middle school, an island among the tiny,
She does her best to please the 'littles', even when they are whiny.
She keeps her PLC afloat, their bow pointed straight downstream,
A level head, always well said, she humbly leads the science team.
Kindness and grace abound in her, she is full of affirmation,
Despite her dodging all the praise, she is truly a teacher sensation.
A woman of faith and warrior of prayer, she always points back to Him,
Her happy spirit is contagious, joy filled beyond the brim.
Not afraid to join the silliness, even dawning Geyser Girl hair,

Lynda, you are such a sweet teacher who cares deeply for your students. You do an incredible job caring for your parents and take such good care of them to ensure you answer all of their questions and on-board them well to MCS. You also have a great sense of humor! Lynda Lynch is a wonderfully balanced teacher. She is very kind and loving to her cherubs and takes communication with her parents very seriously. They always feel heard and understood and that their feelings and opinions are highest in priority for her. She is also a teacher who constantly looks for opportunities to improve her craft. Please make special note that next week directly after 3rd grade Character Awards on June 5th, we will be inviting all 3rd grade students and parents to a special Music Informational Meeting to preview the three offerings through the musical ensemble program. Please join us in the Argyros Center to learn more about the process of selecting either choral, band, or orchestra for next school year. Mrs. Boler, Mr. Lucas, and Dr. Um will be showcasing the options and musical instruments so that students and parents can make informed decisions.

New Law to Go Into Effect July 1, 2019
There have been recent changes to school entry immunization requirements that go into effect July 1, 2019. We are sharing these changes with you so that you may work with your child's healthcare provider to make sure your child is vaccinated (California Code of Regulations Title 17, Division 1, Chapter 4.) There has been the addition of a second Varicella vaccine requirement for entry into elementary school at Transitional Kindergarten (TK)/Kindergarten (K) and/or seventh grade, administered by a licensed California Healthcare Practitioner.

California schools are required by law to check the immunization records for all new student admissions at TK/Kindergarten through 12th grade and all students advancing to 7th grade before entry. Students meeting all immunization requirements will be unconditionally admitted to school. Students may also be unconditionally admitted if they have a permanent medical exception in accordance with Section 6051. Your child may receive the necessary vaccines from his/her primary care practitioner or pharmacy. It is important to get your child vaccinated early so there will be no issue with school entry. Please make sure you bring your child's vaccine record to the school so it may be on file. Should you have questions, please contact the MCS Health office or your child's health care provider.

8th Grade "Last Hurrah" to Knott's Berry Farm Details

This event is the Class of 2019's final class field trip in which our 8th graders will celebrate the culmination of their MCS careers together at Knott's Berry Farm!
On Friday, June 7th, we will leave MCS together at 9:20AM and return at 5:00 pm.
1. Permission Slip (due 6/3):
Please read the details of the permission slip (2 pages) carefully before both you and your child sign your names.

*If your student already has a Knott's Annual Pass, you may pay for transportation only.

Also, Lifetouch Portraits will be our photographer for the "Class of 2019" photo and other key moments of the day such as capturing your son or daughter receiving his/her diploma. One of the sacred traditions of graduation week is the 8th Grade Blessing which will be held on Monday, June 10th, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Mariners Christian School.
The 8th Grade Blessing is an opportunity for parents of graduates to speak words of affirmation over their child - acknowledging their character and excellence, encouraging them to follow God's plan during their upcoming high school years, and speaking God's promises into their future. We ask that only parents be present and that siblings and other family members celebrate at another time. If you are unable to attend, perhaps a grandparent, aunt/uncle, or family friend who has been an important part of your child's life would be willing to step in. If both you and your representative cannot attend, your child's homeroom teacher would be honored to read your written blessing to your child on your behalf. Simply write your words down and email them to Mrs. Walker at [email protected].
The homeroom classes meet in separate rooms (click for location) with parents and students sitting in two circles. This is your time to bless your child in the presence of their peers. It is an opportunity to give them the gift of affirmation expressing a recognition and appreciation for who they are, separate from what they do. It is also an opportunity to communicate how proud you are of who they are becoming. You may want to read a meaningful scripture verse or other selection, pray for them, express your desires for their high school years, simply tell them how much you love them, and/or wish them Godspeed as they move on to the next chapter in their life. We do ask that you limit your time for sharing to 2-3 minutes.
This is a wonderful way to end the school year and to send our graduates into the future God has prepared for them.
